<p>The Beach House is back! The former restaurant which was completely destroyed by a fire back in May, has just announced it&#8217;s open for summer. The team have installed a pop-up food truck and stretch tent right next to the site of the former restaurant, where you can enjoy a selection of their signature food and drinks seven days a week, 9.30am ‘til late. On the menu is whitebait with lemon aioli, crab linguine, fritto misto, Salcombe lobster with garlic butter, sea bass with salsa verde and dressed crab salad. You can also grab a takeaway, or a cooling Salcombe Dairy ice-cream, or down a local beer or cocktail. Bring on those breakfast&nbsp;ciabattas and&nbsp;sundown&nbsp;spritzes! Not at the same time, mind.</p>

<p>It’s hard to beat Blackpool Sands: a Blue Flag beach, unspoilt sea and glorious pines. Now, the new owners of the former Venus Café&nbsp;have upgraded the takeaway into a cool new café, lounge, and restaurant. Centered around the beach’s ethos of minimising environmental impact, Head Chef Sam Evans has curated a crowd-pleasing menu, highlighting West Country flavours. Go for Blackpool Sands Seafood Thali, classic Fish and Chips, Chicken Milanese, Dartmouth Crab, and their signature Beach BLT. <em>Open daily 9am-5pm.</em></p>

This is family-friendly al fresco BBQ dining at its best, racing from fish, meat and vegan options. <p>Less a shack and more a floating gastro-shed slap-bang in the middle of the River Exe. It&#8217;s unique and open only from April to the end of September, meaning tables get booked up fast, although you might nab a cancellation if you&#8217;re lucky. Take the water taxi from Exmouth Marina, then hop on board for a modern British menu, adapted daily to incorporate the local catch of seafood. Choose from seafood paella, pan-roasted sirloin and garlic roasted crevettes, plus options for veggies and a kid’s menu, as well as a range of local gins and wine. Everyone should go at least once, just not when a storm&#8217;s brewing.</p>

<p>Take a seat on this vibrant verandah which faces onto Teignmouth&#8217;s back beach, and tuck into delicious crabs and lobster landed just 50 yards away. A great place for a sunset supper.</p>

<p>Known for its spherical pods overlooking Hope Cove, the interior of the Lobster Pod is just as aesthetically pleasing, serving up delicious chowders, fish and lobster, plus chips and pizza for the kids on a first come, first serve basis. <p>Hosted by the same people who run the Beach House at South Milton, this dog-friendly café is located on the stunning Flete Estate, on the edge of Mothecombe beach car park, just minutes walk from the wonderful Mothecombe beach. Open every day and late night Saturdays, here&#8217;s a great place for a BBQ on the beach, right though July and August. And this is not your regular burger flipper, we&#8217;re talking romanesco glazed Devon pork loin, artisan focaccia and whole char-roast mackerel. Served up with laidback Med vibes and live music thrown in.</p>

<p>Aka &#8216;The Shack&#8217;, this laidback but highly-rated fish restaurant gets booked up months in advance for its proper local-caught fishies (it&#8217;s owned by a local fishing family). It&#8217;s heaven for fans of crab and shellfish, plus monkfish, skate wing, pan-roasted turbot, ooh, and lemon sole roasted on the bone. It used be just BYO booze (and you still can if you prefer), but they&#8217;re now fully licenced and you have the fabulous Cricket Inn right there too. <em>Closed Mondays.</em></p>

<p>What started life as a working oyster farm over 30 years ago is now a thriving restaurant, just a stone&#8217;s throw from Bigbury Beach. Here you can tuck &#8211; or should that be <em>shuck </em>&#8211; into locally harvested oysters, crab, mussels, catch of the day and a portion of skinny fries. There&#8217;s a kids&#8217; menu and get this, a dog&#8217;s menu too! It&#8217;s accessed by a tidal road with an alternative route when the tide is high, so always check the tide times before you go. <em>Open seven days a week in summer until 7.30pm.</em></p>
