<p>Formerly called Festival of Flavours, the RHS&#8217;s autumn foodie focus now called Plot to Plate: &#8216;where gardening meets gastronomy&#8217;. You can hear talks (including the fascinating Josh Sparkes fom The Collective at Woolsery), watch live cookery demos, have your fruit identified by the RHS boffins and taste a variety of apples. </p>



<p>Each day in the Garden Room, 35 local producers are setting up stall with tasty treats and tipples, plus seasonal crafts and gifts. The Kids Adventure Company have a fun tipi where the wee ones can make flower crowns, bow and arrows and clay animals, and toast a yummy s’more over the campfire. You can also see magnificent shire horses moving logs in the woodland.<em> £16.85/under 5s free/RHS members free.</em></p>

<p>The English Riviera&#8217;s celebration of all things fishy has netted all the best eateries across Brixham, Paignton, and Torquay to take part in this amazing two-week festival. It&#8217;s a must for seafood lovers, a celebration of Brixham&#8217;s locally-landed fish with 20+ events, the potential for overnight stays and special menus right across Torbaydos. Events which have caught our eye include a waist-expanding seven-course tasting menu created by seven different chefs (26 Sept/4 Oct), a &#8216;catch and cook&#8217; off the pier at the Cary Arms &amp; Spa (27 Sept) and Oyster Shucking Night at Olive Brixham (2 Oct). It&#8217;s the cod&#8217;s pollocks!</p>

<p>Surely the best value festival going (£5 adults/kids free), Powderham Food Festival has a fabulous setting of a 14th century castle deer park, and 100+ local food traders tempting you with their delicious wares. Go for talks, free tastings, and lots of demonstrations and workshops, including on gut health and locally crafted cider. Kids won&#8217;t be bored with lots to entertain, including a climbing wall, and erm, axe throwing, as well on-message Victorian baking sessions in the Castle and animal antics the form of goat walking and pony grooming. Take a picnic blanket, an empty belly and keep your fingers crossed for sunshine.</p>

<p>Three days of foodie events spread around one of the South Hams&#8217; most beautiful towns and right by the River Dart, from talks, tastings and chef demos to a vibrant market featuring delicious local products to stock up your larder. <p>Cheese, wine, cocktails and <em>oooh</em>-dles of delicious foodie events, all celebrating the abundance of East Devon? Yup, don your baggiest trousers because Taste East Devon is back for a ninth year, and we <em>insist</em> you take a trawl of their <a href="https://www.tasteeastdevon.co.uk/events" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">What&#8217;s On</a>. <em>Sooo</em> many tasty events to tickle your tastebuds, including tours of the kitchen garden at the fabulous PIG at Combe, local vineyards and the new Exeter chocolate factory. </p>

<p>The five-star hotel, Lympstone Manor, like River Cottage, Fat Otter and The Salutation Inn, have created special menus and feasts for the occasion, while Exmouth&#8217;s Bar Buoy have organised a dangerously tempting chance to try all of their cocktails (18 Sept), and Coldharbour Kitchen are launching their new rum with a fun reggae night (19 Sept). Alternatively, taste a whole range of artisan producers all under one roof at the Darts Farm Real Food Tasting Weekend (20-21 Sept).</p>

<p>It&#8217;s not all sitting back and being served drinks and dainties though, why not find out what it&#8217;s like to be a producer? Don the waders and join Ebb Tides for some seaweed foraging and pressing (14 Sept); learn to cook over fire at High Grange, discover the art of making sourdough at Mina&#8217;s Cookery School (16 Sept) or help bring in the apple harvest and press your own juice at Courtney&#8217;s Cider. </p>

<p>Plymouth is looking to the waves for foodie inspo, celebrating its coastal  setting with a weekend devoted to seafood and sustainability. Head to the <a href="https://www.visitplymouth.co.uk/whats-on/major-events/seafest-plymouth/whats-on/on-the-barbican-and-sutton-harbour" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Barbican</a> for seafood traders, a cookery demo where you can learn how to buy, prep and cook fish. Plus there&#8217;s the popular fish auction on The Parade and family fun, including face painting and intriguing demos by lobster pot makers. At <a href="https://www.visitplymouth.co.uk/whats-on/major-events/seafest-plymouth/whats-on/royal-william-yard">Royal William Yard</a> you&#8217;ll find heritage crafts, live music, SUP paddle-boarding sessions and &#8211; wowzers! &#8211; a giant inflatable whale with a theatre inside! The fun Doggy Paddle is back at <a href="https://www.visitplymouth.co.uk/whats-on/major-events/seafest-plymouth/whats-on/seafest-tinside-lido-and-trinity-pier" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tinside Lido</a> (Sun 14), and don’t miss the opportunity to visit the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.visitplymouth.co.uk/whats-on/major-events/seafest-plymouth/whats-on/mount-batten-and-mount-edgcumbe">Mount Batten Tower</a>&nbsp;across the weekend for its panoramic views of Plymouth Sound National Marine Park.</p>

<p>What a lineup! Fermoy&#8217;s Garden Centre have organised some of the South West&#8217;s hottest culinary talent for their Saturday chef demos, including Mark Hix, Jack Stein (son of Rick) and Lympstone Manor&#8217;s Michael Caines. Each day has a different flavour: Thursday is Comedy Night, Friday evening is Beer &amp; Beats, with 150 local beers to try (steady now) and Joey the Lips bringing the music; Saturday has those ace chef demos plus rock band, Stillyano, and Sunday is Family Fun Day with a last chance to grab a bite while enjoying the final music performances and the highlight of the day &#8211; the Dogfest Dog Show.
