<p><strong>What</strong>: Always a sell-out! Go for the pumpkin patch, the trail, a campfire with marshmallow toasting, competitions and games, fancy dress, the Rainbow Railway rides and stickers to collect, seasonal soups and food &#8211; it&#8217;s all very Instagrammable and brilliantly done. For older kids and adults, the <a href="https://www.pennywellfarm.co.uk/pumpkin-nights">Pumpkin Nights</a>&nbsp;return in 2025 with live music, picking, photo ops and foodie treats, although the farm is closed at night (the piggies need their beauty sleep).</p>



<p><strong>Need to know</strong>: It&#8217;s a whole day trip so more of an outlay than the other farms, because the Pumpkin Festival is just part of your ticket, there are all Pennywell&#8217;s usual award-winning attractions, animal activities, farm rides, shows and displays. <em>£21.95/£17.95/ under 2s free; Pumpkin Nights £12.95/£9.95.</em></p>

<p><strong>What: </strong>The Muddy Award-winning Lifton Farm Shop always goes to town with an incredible display of thousands of home-grown pumpkins. New for 2025, they&#8217;re introducing live music and brand new Pumpkin Drinks Bar, along with the traditional marshmallow toasting pits, barrel train rides,a Creepy Carnival Maze Maze (for an extra £3.95pp), a Merch Tent with souvenirs, plus magic shows and jugglers to entertain.</p>

<p><strong>What</strong>: Not just for guests staying at The Mole Resort! We&#8217;re all invited to discover North Devon’s largest display of pumpkins &#8211; pick your perfect gourd and carve into a spooky lantern. Have a go at&nbsp;mini pumpkin archery&nbsp;challenges, a scarecrow building corner or spider slingshot challenge and take part in the spooky ghost trail in the surrounding woodlands. </p>



<p><strong>Need to know</strong>: Little ones and grown-ups can also get creative with&nbsp;Halloween&nbsp;pottery painting, creepy clay crafts, and *eek* a slime making lab. Or head down after dark for the twinkly Twilight Trail. £10 per child, adults free, includes a pumpkin.</p>

The food shack is open, and it&#8217;s always worth a wander around the farm shop and its concessions.</p>

<p><strong>What</strong>: Just the one October weekend opening for the organic farm which grows everything in a no-nasties way, so ideal for kids. A chance to find out about regenerative farming where all the goodness goes back into the land.</p>



<p><strong>Need to know</strong>: You can bring a buggy, but it&#8217;s bumpy so you&#8217;ll need to leave it in the yard; buy tickets online and make sure you arrive in your time slot. There&#8217;s also a Tractor Trailer Ride, Spooky trail, Pumpkin Carving, Face Painting and refreshments in the café.</p>

<p><strong>What:</strong> 20 different varieties of pumpkins for you to pick right where they were grown. Pumpkin picking is just the half of it, with children&#8217;s games and archery (bring the plasters), miniature steam train and barrel train rides, face painting and bouncy inflatables.</p>



<p><strong>Need to know:</strong> 10am-5pm; free entry, no booking needed; pumpkins from 50p, cash and card okay; wheelbarrows available; dogs allowed on leads but not in the pumpkin patch; plus loos and refreshments.</p>

<p><strong>What:</strong> Last year Farmer Neil treated pumpkin-pickers to all sorts of spooky treats including a pumpkin carving tent with free face paints, a Halloween gift shop with cute crochet pumpkins made by a local, torch light pumpkin picking and spooky themed areas. TBC for 2025.</p>



<p><strong>Need to know:</strong> Open 10am &#8211; 5pm; free entry, pumpkins from £3 &#8211; £7; wheelbarrows available, no booking needed. Turn off on A379 when you see Ben&#8217;s Farm Shop, the PYO is right behind. Dogs on leads.</p>

<p><strong>Need to know: </strong>Pre-booked tickets on sale from 19 Sept 2025; (£2pp, under 2&#8217;s free but need a ticket); 10am-5pm (last entry 4pm); loads of wheelbarrows; no dogs/only guide dogs; there&#8217;s a picnicking area (with loos) plus Barista coffee, stone baked pizza and other drinks/snacks&nbsp;will be available from their spooky Jolly Café throughout the day.</p>

<p><strong>What</strong>: a new chemical-free pumpkin patch just off the A379 near the Smugglers Inn and hosted by Smallacombe Organics. Plus, light refreshments, meet the animals, face painting and on-site carving.</p>

<p><strong>What</strong>: The family farm ran PYO pumpkins and a host of halloween events during half term for the first time in 2024, plus lots of fun and games and tractor farm tours. This year&#8217;s is still TBC so watch this space.</p>



<p><span><i style="font-weight: bold">PSST&#8230; There&#8217;s no pickings to be had at either Surfing Cow and Terwhiti Farm this year, but they&#8217;re </i><span style="font-weight: 600"><i>promising</i></span><i style="font-weight: bold"> to be back in 2026.</i></span></p>
