<p>At&nbsp;Àclèaf, fine dining comes with a side of Tudor drama. Housed inside the grand Boringdon Hall Hotel, this&nbsp;Michelin-starred restaurant is led by award-winning Head Chef Scott Paton and delivers serious culinary theatre. The menu evolves with the seasons, showcasing the best locally sourced produce in refined ingredient led dishes. The Waygu with celeriac and truffled honey? A firm favourite. And if you really want to lean in, the seven (yes seven) course tasting menu is an immersive journey through the chef’s seasonal vision. Ditch the car and opt for the expertly curated wine flight and nab a&nbsp;balcony table overlooking the Great Hall for maximum atmosphere. For your dinner party trivia: in 1587 John Parker is believed to have hosted Sir Francis Drake here to celebrate his raid on the Spanish fleet in&nbsp;Cádiz Harbour. Pass the salt and the history lesson.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Independent, intimate and quietly confident, Fletcher’s Restaurant is the brainchild of owner and Head Chef Fletcher Andrews who set up shop five years ago after sharpening his knives in some seriously respected kitchens. With a Michelin recommendation and two AA Rosettes under its belt, this family-run gem focuses on refined fine dining without the fuss. Everything is made with love (awww) and the best local produce. The £70 tasting menu is the full experience, and add the optional wine flight if you’re feeling frivolous. Prefer to steer your own ship? There’s an à la carte option too. The Devon crab and candied walnut is a standout, and if you’re booking, go for the main restaurant over the conservatory for a cosier, more intimate vibe.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The latest venture from Dave Jenkins (previously of Rock Salt fame) Salumi Bar &amp; Eatery is already pulling a loyal crowd. Expect modern British dishes with subtle Asian influences; a nod to Dave&#8217;s love of big, bold flavours. The hake is a hero here. Not in a fish mood? Then Salumi chicken curry is the one. And whatever you do, save space for the suet pudding. Table 61 (aka ’The Love Shack’) is the one to bag if you’re leaning romantic. And keep an eye out for their themed food nights. <p>Burgers, but not as you know them. Founded by Plymouth locals Oz and Sheena, Zephyr started life as a London street food stall before heading back to Devon to open a permanent site. Their signature? That epic crust on their smash patties, made using top-tier UK dry aged beef. The California burger is a bestseller, and the Bone Marrownaise dip has reached near mythical status. They’ve even created their own Zephyr wine (because obviously). Interiors are all surf and skate cool, hand built by a local carpenter, and the vibe is energetic and buzzy. Want a quieter bite? Aim for a corner table. Meat-free and gluten-free options are available too, so no one misses out.</p>

<p>Ok, so not technically a restaurant, but it would be criminal not to include this Barbican institution. Just a five-minute stroll from the National Marine Aquarium, Jacka’s storefront is charming enough, but the real magic is behind the counter. Flaky croissants, doughnuts, Eccles cakes, brownies… and the sourdough? Award-winning, no less. No pastry is complete without coffee in my book and their locally roasted offering does not disappoint. Fun fact:Jacka is the UK’s oldest operating commercial bakery, serving customer since 1597. That&#8217;s a lot of dough.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Also housed within Boringdon Hall Hotel, this&nbsp;2 AA Rosette brasserie is the more relaxed (but no less polished) sibling to Àclèaf. Open daily for for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, it offers fresh, seasonal dishes in a setting that balances modern elegance with history charm. Think oak floors, rich fabrics and a warm, welcoming ambience.&nbsp;Seafood is always a strong showing and the new salt-baked Brixham cod with curried crab gnocchi and lime leaf oil is already tipped as a standout. In summer, the courtyard tables are pure alfresco bliss; otherwise, request a window seat for the best light in the house.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Forgive me for this is absolutely outside of Plymouth… but I promise it&#8217;s worth the mileage as dinner at the Refectory; once reserved only for overnight guests at Flowlescombe Farm, is now open to the public. Albeit with very limited availability. One sitting. 6.30pm. That’s it.&nbsp;It’s farm to fork in its purest form, shaped entire by what the land is offering that day. Executive Chef Elly Wentworth (a former finalist on Masterchef: The Professionals) serves a four-course set menu that changes daily. For the full experience, book one of the 16 seats at the communal table overlooking the open kitchen. It’s intimate, immersive and properly special.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Southeast Asian street food with Sutton Harbour views? Yes please.&nbsp;Serving up Thai, Laos, Malaysian and Vietnamese inspired dishes for sharing, Supha’s is big on bold flavours and seasonal produce. Most dishes are gluten free, and there’s a strong vegan and veggie offering too. The clams in coconut and turmeric sauce are an absolute chefs kiss. And if the weather’s behaving, grab a table outside and soak up the marina atmosphere. Plymouth Rivera energy, unlocked.</p>
