<p>The Geoplay Park maps out the geological history of the area, through climbing frames, swings and more. The park is split into age groups which represent different times in history, from the Devonian to the Quaternary period &#8211; at the very least you can impress the other mums with your newly found knowledge! The park also has a sand and water play area (representing the Permian period, BTW), and has age-appropriate areas from toddlers to teens.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A lovely little freebie for families, with a small children’s play park, plenty of space to run around and a seasonal café for a well-earned cuppa (or ice cream). Even better, it’s just a short walk from the beautiful Anstey’s Cove, so you can combine playground time with a trip to the beach. Summer holiday day out? Sorted.</p>

<p>Local parents love Meadobrook because it&#8217;s so much more than just a playground. Covering about 10 acres, there&#8217;s a bike track, zipline, 25-metre pool, plus swings, slide and a roundabout visible from the seating area where the grown-ups can congregate over a drink from Things Happen Here. Keeping the kids and grown ups happy? That&#8217;ll do nicely. </p>

<p>Kids need a cool down? Over summer the wet play area of the award-winning park is open and ready for the kids to splash around &#8211; don’t worry, they can dry off on the slide! There’s also a sports court and football pitch for the older kids to kick a ball around, and an adventure golf course. You don’t need to bring a picnic with food kiosks and park benches available, and there’s no room for boredom with the beach just opposite.</p>

<p>Found in the depths of the Wolf Valley, Roadford Lake has something for everyone. Choose from the multiple scenic lakeside walks, and get the little ones in touch with nature by bird-spotting the bustling wildlife. There’s also a café where you can grab a well-deserved sandwich, followed by a cake or locally sourced ice-cream. Enjoy a coffee or cold drink while the kids burn energy in the play area. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even book instructor-led water sports activities like kayaking and paddleboarding.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Haldon Forest is packed with family fun, whether you’re exploring its 3,500 acres of woodland, tackling one of its discovery trails or refuelling with a panini at The Ridge Café. Just 15 minutes from Exeter, it’s the perfect place to escape the city and get back to nature, with plenty of interactive trails and activities to keep little legs busy – including the Julia Donaldson-inspired Room on the Broom trail.</p>

<p>If the kids are going through a knights and dragons phase, you have to take them here. Newly refurbished, the park is inspired by a medieval castle, where your little ones can let their imaginations run wild. There’s even a mini Ninja Warrior-esque warped wall that’s bound to get some giggles. Don’t forget the rest of the park too, with a ‘Pride in Parks’ five-star award from the Royal Horticultural Society.</p>

<p>Rock Park&#8217;s adventure park is filled with climbing frames, swings and slides, as well as a sandpit for the little ones who like to get their hands dirty. There’s a skatepark and sports park for the older kids, too, plus an outdoor gym area for anyone who fancies a quick cardio session.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Need to entertain the kids without spending a fortune? Head to Queen’s Drive Space on Exmouth seafront, where little adventurers can let loose in the free Jurassic-themed playground. There’s also a food and seating area with food stalls and a bar, plus a programme of daytime and evening events – making it an easy win for a summer day out by the sea.</p>
