<p>When it comes to retail, Exeter is hotter than the heatwaves, with both the world&#8217;s leading retailer of intimate apparel, <a href="https://princesshay.co.uk/shops/victorias-secret/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Victoria&#8217;s Secret</a>, and Danish homeware brand <a href="https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1240657821431718&amp;set=pb.100064625354226.-2207520000&amp;type=3">Søstrene Grene</a>, launching stores in the city. The luxe lingerie brand opens its doors in Princesshay this Friday for a Grand Opening Weekend (Sat 16-Sun 17 Aug). Go for a cool DJ set, pink carpet and <a href="https://www.eventbrite.com/e/victorias-secret-beauty-exeter-grand-opening-weekend-tickets-1544613674079" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">free giveaways</a> for the early birds. It&#8217;s the brand&#8217;s first UK beauty assortment, so will be stocking all the shiny-new body lotions, serums and oils, lip care and glosses, alongside what they&#8217;re calling &#8216;an introduction&#8217; to sleepwear, accessories, bras and pants. Guessing that means a small range, but anyway no more schleps to Cribbs for fans sexy knicks and beautiful bras, ladies!</p>

<p>Royal William Yard&#8217;s new curated six-unit shopping hotspot, <a href="https://royalwilliamyard.com/things-to-do/shop/arcade" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Arcade</a>, has launched with so far just the one retailer &#8211; a high-end pet store, Nala&#8217;s Pet Co. It&#8217;s a go-to for natural pet food and quality accessories so go spoil the pooch. A dreamy little store, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61575358040897" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Eluna</a>, has opened on Totnes High Street. Owner Ella (the daughter of Boka&#8217;s owner) has filled it with wellness and yoga essentials, all chosen to nourish mind, body and soul. Teens are sure to love the Summer Henna Pop-ups.</p>

<p>Further up the High Street, <a href="https://meandeast.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Me and East</a> have moved home, bringing their wonderfully curated mix of handmade gifts, clothing, jewellery and ceramics across to the former Fifty5a premises. It looks as fabulous as their former store near Rotherfold Square, only with more space for all the tempting gifts. We&#8217;re positively drooling over Josh Monk&#8217;s beautiful sign writing in the window, the renovated parquet floor and fresh flower bouquets for sale outside from Number Twenty Seven.</p>

<p>Over at Dart Valley vineyard and winery, Sandridge Barton, it&#8217;s bye-bye to Circa (<a href="https://devon.muddystilettos.co.uk/eat-out/restaurants/small-plates-natural-wine-bars-devon/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">now in Totnes</a>) and hello <a href="https://sandridgebarton.com/roam-restaurant/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ROAM restaurant</a>. Led by restauranteur Ian Alexander and head chef Sean Blood (formerly Soho House Berlin and Shoreditch), the farm-to-fork eatery is serving up exciting Basque-inspired dishes and using super-local meat and seasonal veg from the estate and gardens. It&#8217;s currently open for lunch seven days a week, with plans for evening pop-ups. Go! </p>

<p>In Dartmouth, <a href="https://24-south.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">24 South</a> is a new seafood restaurant (formerly Bushell’s) for scoffing waterside. Think Smoked Haddock &amp; Cod Chowder loaded with mussels and served with crusty ciabatta, John Dory with an ice cold beer, or premium dressed crab with crevettes, asparagus, salad &#8211; perfect for sharing by the water. There&#8217;s also dedicated kids menu and it&#8217;s dog-friendly. </p>

<p>News fresh outta the kitchen! <a href="https://beachhousedevon.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Beach House Devon</a>, the rustic beachside eatery at South Milton Sands &#8211;  which was closed due to a devastating fire &#8211; is back open as a summer pop-up. Open seven days a week, from breakfast ciabatta to sundown spritzes, the all-day café will be serving its signature dishes, along with takeaway, lovely local beers and cocktails.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.lewtrenchardmanor.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lewtrenchard Manor</a>, Okehampton&#8217;s historic hotel which closed its doors last May, has returned phoenix from the flames as a 16-bedroom hotel and wedding venue as part of The Original Collection. Dating back to Jacobean times, its impressive original features have been give a luxe £3 million makeover. The antique collection has been reinstated, the plasterwork restored and the parking improved. The hotel restaurant is also back open as Origin, a fine dining destination serving up a posh tasting menu, a set lunch menu, Sunday lunches, ooh, and the afternoon teas are back too. </p>
