<p>Devon is leaning <em>hard</em> into the wellness glow-up and we&#8217;re here for it.</p>



<p>First up, Japanese hair spas. Yep, it&#8217;s a thing and frankly, I&#8217;m not mad about it. Designed to improve scalp health while delivering pure relaxation, it&#8217;s basically a dream for anyone who enjoys the hair wash more than the haircut. Think scalp facials, deep relaxation and seriously glossy locks incoming. The good news? This trend has landed in Devon and <a href="https://www.hairandharmony.co.uk/services-4" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hair and Harmony</a> in Exeter is an early adopter with a one-hour treatment at £60. Bookmark that bad boy now.</p>



<p>Sauna culture is heating up thanks to <a href="https://www.purehikisauna.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pure Hiki Sauna</a> which has opened at Greendale Farm Shop in Exeter, firmly cementing Devon’s love affair with wild, back-to-nature wellness. Communal sessions are £14 for 45 minutes and the sauna is available for private hire sessions also. </p>



<p>The legends at <a href="https://www.wildersauna.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wilder Sauna</a> are also gearing up for their latest opening at the beautiful <a href="https://millendhotel.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mill End Hotel</a>. Banya hats at the ready from 18 April.  </p>

<p>And beauty buffs take note: because <a href="https://www.moksa.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Moksa Beauty</a> who have recently opened their very own wellness space in the heart of Exeter (retail shop, workshop studio and treatment room) have just announced a Wellness Bar is in the offing too. Rooted in Ayurveda, the brand have won numerous awards and should be an absolute must visit for that matcha.</p>

<p>Sustainability stars <a href="https://www.glebehousedevon.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Glebe House</a> are basking in the glow of a Michelin Green Star (and quite right too) proving eco dining can still be seriously luxe.</p>



<p>Meanwhile, things are getting lively on the water with Exeters&#8217; first floating bar coming to <a href="https://quaysidedistillery.co.uk/floating-bar/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Quayside Distillery</a>. Sunset cocktails on the quay? Don’t mind if we do.</p>

<p>In chefy news, Wild Artichoke in Kingsbridge has been taken over by <a href="https://www.versekingsbridge.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Verse</a>, so expect fresh energy (and likely a booking frenzy). And <a href="https://www.instagram.com/theturfdevon/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Turf</a> is now under the wing of the<a href="https://www.riverexecafe.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> River Exe Café</a> team with plans to reopen on 8 May. More on that as we hear it.  </p>



<p>Beer lovers, <a href="https://topshambrewery.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Topsham Brewery</a> has opened a new outdoor bar space and just in time for sunnier days (we’re manifesting).</p>



<p>And Exeter, you have a new carb crush. Taking over the spot that Big Bakes once filled, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/thebagelshopco/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Bagel Shop Co</a> have opened their third branch of this south west chain. Championing the best ingredients the South West has to offer, bagels are baked fresh and fillings are made in-house. You&#8217;ve twisted my arm.</p>



<p>On a more bittersweet note, it’s a fond farewell to Sara&#8217;s Petite Cuisine in Topsham. A local favourite that will be much missed. </p>

<p>Noughties nostalgia alert: <strong>Topshop has officially landed inside John Lewis Exeter</strong>. The high street icon has made a comeback after a five year hiatus, via an in-store concession at <a href="https://www.johnlewis.com/our-shops/exeter" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">John Lewis.</a> The collection features 130 of Topshop’s most in-demand pieces, so expect signature denim, footwear and a healthy dose of throwback joy. We predict queues (and TikToks).</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-family-fun-festivals-flowers-amp-fallout">FAMILY FUN: Festivals, flowers &amp; fallout</h2>



<p><a href="https://www.dartsfarm.co.uk/events/tulip-fest" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Darts Farm</a> are running their first ever Tulip Fest this year, in a celebration of 350,000 homegrown tulips, dutch-style food and drink and photo opportunities a plenty from 28 March &#8211; 19 April. </p>



<p>Looking ahead, <a href="https://www.discoveryfestival.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Discovery Festival Plymouth</a> (12 &#8211; 24 Jun) is shaping up to be a big one for summer diaries with a line-up including Blue, Five and 80&#8217;s comebacks from Kim Wilde and Level 42.</p>



<p>But it’s not all good news (sob) as <a href="https://electricbayfestival.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Electric Bay Festival</a> in Torquay has been cancelled for 2026. But organisers are promising a bigger comeback for its fifth anniversary in 2027, so watch this space. </p>
