<p>Kids need a cool down? From May, the wet play area of the award-winning park will be open and ready for the kids to splash around &#8211; don’t worry, they can dry off on the slide! There’s also a sports court and football pitch for the older kids to kick a ball around, and the park’s newest feature is an adventure golf course. You don’t need to bring a picnic with food kiosks and park benches available, and there’s no room for boredom with the beach just opposite.</p>

<p>Found in the depths of the Wolf Valley, Roadford Lake has something for everyone. Choose from the multiple scenic lakeside walks, and get the little ones in touch with nature by bird-spotting the bustling wildlife. There’s also a café where you can grab a well-deserved sandwich, followed by a cake or locally sourced ice-cream. Enjoy a coffee or cold drink while the kids burn energy in the play area. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even book instructor-led water sports activities like kayaking and paddleboarding. </p>

<p>Haldon Forest is filled with fun, whether you&#8217;re exploring the 3,500 acres of woodland to re-fueling with a panini at The Ridge Café. Just 15 minutes outside Exeter, the forest is the perfect place to escape the city and get back in touch with nature on a family-friendly trail. It offers lots of discovery paths with interactive features, including one where you could spot <em>Stick Man</em>!</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-marsh-mill-playground-bovey-tracey">Marsh Mill Playground, Bovey Tracey </h2>



<p>If the kids are going through a knights and dragons phase, you have to take them here. Newly refurbished this January, the park is inspired by a medieval castle, where your little ones can let their imaginations run wild. There’s even a mini Ninja Warrior-esque warped wall that’s bound to get some giggles. Don’t forget the rest of the park too, which has just received the ‘Pride in Parks’ five-star award from the Royal Horticultural Society.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-rock-park-barnstaple"><a href="https://www.barnstapletowncouncil.gov.uk/facilities/rock-park/">Rock Park</a>, Barnstaple</h2>



<p>Rock Park&#8217;s adventure park is filled with climbing frames, swings and slides, as well as a sandpit for the little ones who like to get their hands dirty. There’s a skatepark and sports park for the older kids, too, plus an outdoor gym area for anyone who fancies a quick cardio session. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-geoplay-park-paignton"><a href="https://www.englishriviera.co.uk/things-to-do/geoplay-park-paignton-p1306393">Geoplay Park</a>, Paignton</h2>



<p>The Geoplay Park maps out the geological history of the area, through climbing frames, swings and more. The park is split into age groups which represent different times in history, from the Devonian to the Quaternary period &#8211; at the very least you can impress the other mums with your newly found knowledge! The park also has a sand and water play area (representing the Permian period, BTW), and has age-appropriate areas from toddlers to teens. </p>

<p>If the sea is still too cold for a dip, head to the Queen&#8217;s Drive Space on the Exmouth seafront to brave the dinos of the Jurassic-themed park instead. This space is perfect for all the family, from live music and events to independent food pop ups. Yum!</p>

Visit Sidmouth&#8217;s much-loved site to meet Cocoa, Drizzle, Percy and many more furry friends (yes, those are their actual names and yes, they are equally as adorable). The sanctuary also offers trail packs, so you can explore the sanctuary and check out the award-winning garden areas and the maze: there’s also a spring nature trail running from 22 Apr-2 Jun.</p>
