Think you know glamping? Prepare for a re-think, as this exciting hidden gem is waaaay more than just woodburners and wilderness. Dittisham Hideaway, Glamping Business of the Year 2023 Bronze winner in the Devon Tourism Awards, would please the most diva-ish of teen or indeed stiletto-wearing woman. Here is a range of really exciting options, including four treehouses (3 dog-friendly); five family-sized shepherd’s lodges, and a restored American Airstream.

Book the tribe into a treehouse (sleep two adults and up to three kids) and you’ll want for nothing. The spec is second to none, with all mod-cons, including underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove to keep you toasty, a fully-equipped kitchen, and two – yes TWO! – en-suite bathrooms with power showers.

Plus, a range of outdoor activities is on hand, from fishing and horse riding to paddle boarding and kayak hire. You can even hire their helpful concierge services when you can’t be bothered to put on a pinny, from private chefs to a de-frazzling massage.

If it’s a date night you’re planning, you can’t get cooler than an 1960s’ American Airstream. We love the idea of popping this one as a surprise for your bloke, “Darling, just put on this blindfold” (no funny business, now), and driving him here to open the door on a gleaming Airstream with the original 1961 Wally Byam’s Caravanners Club stickers still on the windows. Hot dang! Read the review here.

Prefer cottagecore to retro? Make a beeline for the Shepherds Lodges, complete with a roomy 234 sq. ft. of space, a king-size double bed, and its own private terrace with an outdoor wood-fired spa bath. Should you be be unable to find a babysitter (or a kennels) one of the huts has a mini-hut attached to accommodate the kids and is Fido-friendly.

Outside each stay is your own private area, with a hammock and sun loungers and – whoop!- a traditional wood-fired cedar hot tub. And don’t worry you won’t be disturbed while catching up on your pile of Booker Prize-winners: there’s an an outdoor chess set and table football and a BBQ to keep them all busy. There’s a hamper to settle you in, packed with some treats, enough for welcome tea/coffee & nibbles, with the inclusion of bread, butter and jam. As well as a complimentary bottle of wine for you to enjoy on a warm sunny afternoon or cosy winter evening by the fire.

Plus, the fabulous harbour town of Dartmouth is just a 10-minute drive away. Thrilling, isn’t it? Book us all in yesterday! I’ll see you in the hot tub.
