Regardless of the latest colour trends, if you force yourself into a shade that doesn’t make you feel or look good, you won’t wear it. But the good news, according to personal stylist and qualified colour analyst image consultant, <a href="https://www.rachelmoss.co.uk/">Rachel Moss</a> (above), is most of us have a good instinct for the kind of colours we like, and those that suit us.

A former model, Rachel worked in photographic, fashion and TV work for QVC shopping channel before retraining in London as an Image Consultant in Colour Analysis, Wardrobe and Personal Shopping. During her time in London, Rachel observed beautiful models with deep self-loathing, in contrast to gorgeous plus-size women who seemed to command a room with confidence and ease. Having been told she was too tall, too fat or too thin, Rachel realised it wasn&#8217;t down to body shape and size, but also how you feel about yourself that counts.&nbsp;These tools helped sharpen her senses into guiding women towards a more confident, updated and happier version of themselves.

Rachel says that most of us have something in our wardrobe that attracts a compliment when we wear it. More often than not, it&#8217;s the colour people see first which garners attention or a compliment. The colour could be especially vibrant and harmonious on you, give your skin a youthful boost, or simply bring out the colour in your eyes.&nbsp;

Identifying your true colours, means that no matter what&#8217;s in, or out, you have your personal colour palette down. You can use this confidently, tweaking it to suit, as well as being able to nod to a seasonal colour trend, without going off course &#8211; or looking like you’re trying too hard.

1/ Hold a white sheet of paper against your face and look at yourself in the mirror. If your skin appears yellow next to the paper, your skin has a Warm undertone, and if it appears rosey, you have a Cool undertone. From here, you can determine the colours that suit you. 



2/ If a colour lifts and smooths your complexion, makes your eyes sparkle and enhances the colours in your hair, these are the right colours for you.



3/ Whatever your colours, wearing a red lipstick with a blue colour running through it, will make your teeth appear whiter.



4/ Wearing an outfit in a monochrome colour always creates a streamlined, elegant look. Take a sky blue shirt add a blue jacket and wear with blue jeans. Wear a silk scarf at the neck in a constrast colour to add interest.&nbsp;

6/ Dark colours shrink an area, and light colours expand. Use colour blocking to minimise or maximise areas where you want more or less attention to your body.&nbsp;



7/ Think of fabric when you are wearing colour, as the type of fabric can alter the quality of the colour and whether it suits you or not. A shirt in midnight-blue, for example, could look more stunning in silk, rather than a flat, matte cotton.
