Need a New Year’s Eve Party?
We can help with that. Here's our pick of places to go and see out 2017 in style* (*Hangover optional)
If you’ve left it all a bit last minute this year, fear not, there is still some serious fun to be had. Get planning your outfit for one of these shindig’s at some of our fave spots.
Paschoe House Party
Book a taxi, or get a room, because you’ll want to glam up and superglue a glass of fizz to your hand for this one. Join Team Paschoe House at at Bow, near Crediton for a sparkling party, where you’ll enjoy champagne and canapés on arrival, then sit down to what I predict will be a one of the most delicious 3-course dinners you’ve had in a while. There will be entertainment and live music to dance the night away, and a pyromusical at midnight to herald the arrival of 2018. It’s £110 per head but my god, you’ll see the new year in with some serious style; if a house was built for a party it was Paschoe House.
Tickets are £110 per head. Dress code: Black Tie. Carriages: 1am To enquire and book your tickets, please call 01363 84244. paschoehouse.co.uk
A Winter Wonderland at Glazebrook House
New Years Eve was always going to be something special here, wasn’t it? This year, the Alice in Wonderland-themed hotel at South Brent is hosting a magical winter wonderland evening full of surprises, which start as soon as you’re over the threshold. Expect a welcome drink and canapés, followed by a 6-course taster menu (which looks awesome) and live music.
Tickets for the evening cost £130, for bookings call the hotel direct on 01364 73322, glazebrookhouse.com
Stay up late with Hotel Endsleigh
Well there’s an invitation that’s hard to decline! I’ve just returned from a dreamy pre-Christmas break at Endsleigh at Milton Abbot (review coming soon) and, have to say, I was rather envious of the guests who were about to descend for Christmas. You can get in on the Endsleigh action and join them for dinner in the Stables featuring a five-course menu by Chef Graziosi followed by the New year party in the House. At midnight fireworks will light up the sky.
£120 to include a five course dinner, coffee, petit fours, Champagne & all entertainment. hotelendsleigh.com
Enjoy ‘Soiree Savoyarde’ at Le Vignoble
If you’re in or near Plymouth, you’ll be in great hands at the beautifully intimate and classy Le Vignoble Wine Lounge at the Royal William Yard for this party. Hosted by lovely owners Yannick and Ele, grab a glass of sparkling wine on arrival, plus indulge in a 3 course ‘Savoyarde’ buffet, including delights like smoked mackerel pate and cheese fondue, followed by a glass of sparkling wine at midnight. You’re sure to catch the fireworks across the water, too.
Tickets £40, levignoble.co.uk, 01752 222892.
Have a Party in the Cosmos at the Exeter Phoenix
For those of you dying to dress up and do glittery faces, you’ll be transported to the Starship Phoenix for a party like no other at the Exeter Phoenix. From cosmopolitan cocktails to space-age silent discos and the Ultimate Bowie headlining, dig out the intergalactic fancy dress and get your groove on.
8pm – 3am, tickets £20, exeterphoenix.org.uk
Join the Black Tie Celebrations at Clayton’s in Barnstaple
If you’re Barnstaple-bound, rock up with a ticket and you’ll be treated to champagne on arrival, followed by a 6-course tasting menu with wine pairings (don’t forget to stock up on Alkaseltzer). There will be a live jazz band and a silent disco, a cigar and whisky tasting experience on the terrace and, of course, champagne when Big Ben bongs. Hang on, he’s not bonging this year, is he? Finally, if you’re really in it for the long haul and still standing you’ll be treated to a survivor’s breakfast!
From 7.30pm, claytonsbarnstaple.co.uk
