Not lying, it&#8217;s one of our favourite events for festive feels, and it&#8217;s back on 21 Nov &#8211; 30 Dec 2025. A magical mix of shimmering treescapes, sparkling sculptures and ambient music, it&#8217;s like stepping into a fairytale &#8211; only with selfies, hot chocolate and a chance to do some Xmas shopping afterwards! </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-1-winter-wellness">1/ Winter wellness</h2>

<p>Who doesn&#8217;t need a little more light in their life at this dark time of year? It&#8217;s a total spirit-lifter, out in the cold air, enjoying all the childlike wonder of a Christmas tree. Except, walking among the baubles and ornaments, you almost feel like you&#8217;re part of the tree. The atmospheric movie music makes it even more immersive. Give me this over an ice bath any day.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-2-family-time">2/ Family time </h2>

<p>You can&#8217;t beat <a href="https://www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/rosemoor/whats-on/rosemoor-glow?utm_source=muddystilettos&amp;utm_medium=ad-rhs&amp;utm_campaign=glowmuddystilettos&amp;utm_content=rosemoor-image-glowmuddystilettos" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">RHS Glow</a> for a cross-generational get-together. You can go at your own pace, and there are lots of helpful stewards and seats en route, so older relatives can take a breather. It feels busy and communal, but never rushed. Kids find it really exciting, and will enjoy meeting the friendly life-size fairy who&#8217;s wandering around saying hello.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-3-it-s-insta-gold">3/ It&#8217;s Insta gold</h2>



<p>Call me David Bailey! Yup, I&#8217;m always super-impressed with how well the lights photograph, even on my camera-phone. Light images taken at night can often just come out as disappointing fuzzy pinpricks, but &#8211; maybe because of the artistry, the way the ground is cleverly lit, and how they&#8217;ve maximised reflections in the lake &#8211; all your pictures will pop. Plus, there are lots of selfie spots &#8211; a great way to bond and have a laugh together.  </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-4-garden-magic">4/ Garden magic</h2>

<p>If you love plants, then there are plenty of treats for gardeners, including the up-lit culms of a giant golden bamboo, the stumpery, a gully and waterfall, and the beautiful shapes made by the branches of the oak trees. If you&#8217;re familiar with Rosemoor, it&#8217;s all part of the fun, recognising you&#8217;ve arrived in the familiar Potager or the Rose Garden, but in a whole new, erm, light.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-5-tradition-but-make-it-healthy">5/ Tradition but make it healthy!</h2>

<p>Let&#8217;s face it, there aren&#8217;t many Christmas activities that don&#8217;t involve stuffing yourself silly, and then falling asleep on the sofa. Add it to the Boxing Day walk and fancy-dress sea dip and create a wholesome new tradition to add to the list.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-6-christmas-shopping">6/ Christmas shopping    </h2>



<p>The fun doesn&#8217;t end when the trail stops, as the Rosemoor shop and garden centre is open late for a spot of Christmas gift-hunting. Useful quality things like Emma Bridgewater tissue wrapping paper, festive ghost stories, garden gizmos, plants, Xmas decs, and homeware. Always good to get one or two more ticked off the list.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-7-sculpture-culture">7/ Sculpture culture</h2>



<p>RHS Glow coincides with the annual <a href="https://www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/rosemoor/viewevent?EFID=3306&amp;ESRC=CMS" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Winter Sculpture</a> exhibition, which has 200+ artworks on display. Many are lit up as part of the light trail, either to create magical silhouettes or to be viewed from stations along the fabulous topiary pillars. It&#8217;s beautifully done &#8211; as good as a gallery, for your own private moment of wonder. <em>Runs 15 Nov &#8211; 31 Jan 2026, and the <a href="http://Living Sculpture and Meet the Artist Weekend" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Living Sculpture Weekend</a> and a chance to meet the artists 15-16 Nov 2025.</em></p>

<p>You can scoff on tasty takeaway pasties and hot dogs, or head to the Garden Restaurant for a <a href="https://www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/rosemoor/food-drink/glow" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Glow Supper</a>, tasty pies and desserts of Basque Cheesecake and gooey chocolate brownies. The Festive Afternoon Tea is worth the trip alone, so get booking. </p>
