Fancy being at Plymouth’s hottest event of the summer?
Get yourself tickets to MTV Presents: Ocean City Sounds
Pah! We’re blowing big fat raspberries at Ibiza this year. You can keep your sweaty Balearic bars, sunburn and humungous hangovers, actually. Because we fancy partying much closer to home this summer, with the Atlantic breeze sending us giddy and some serious t-u-u-u-u-nes belting out in the open air. Fancy it? That’s exactly what you could be doing this July, if you’re quick and grab yourself some tickets to Plymouth’s MTV Presents: Ocean City Sounds.
Over the past few years, those people at MTV have discovered that Plymouth’s historic Hoe is a cracking open-air venue for live music. I mean, it’s a no-brainer really, isn’t it? A wide-open green space at the heart of the city, with views out across the Sound and one of the best natural harbours in the world. Bring the right music and you’ve a cocktail for a brilliant night out.
So, have you seen the line up for 2018’s MTV Presents: Ocean City Sounds? Have you?! This two day event, coming to the city on 26 & 27 July is looking pretty special to me and is promising something a little different to the previous ‘MTV Crashes’ events. This one, part of a series that also includes Gibraltar Calling and Varna Beach (Bulgaria), is bringing big, poppy names on the first night.
Indie pop titans Bastille are headlining with a full 90 minute set, along with Ella Eyre, Professor Green and R3WIRE & VARSKI.
But the second night has got Muddy just a leeetle bit excited and nostalgic for balmy Balearic summers (and already planning the outfit). In an exclusive for the region, the ledge Radio 1 DJ that is Pete Tong, along with the Heritage Orchestra conducted by Jules Buckley will be performing their critically acclaimed Ibiza Classics show – their only South West performance of the year.
This one has already sold out venues across the UK, including the O2 Arena in London, as well as being a centrepiece of the BBC Proms. It’s a full two-hour set, with a 65 piece orchestra performing those dance anthems that we all remember, along with an incredible light show. The show will also feature guest vocalists, who are yet to be revealed. Excited?! Me too!
Oh, and Tom Findlay (one half of Groove Armada) and Danny Howard complete the line-up. See? Told you it was pretty cool. Can you imagine how all of this is going to sound on the breeze in the height of summer?
If you’re familiar with the drill, you’ll know that these events sell out fast, so be quick! You can buy day tickets for £25, or an event pass for £45. Get the lowdown here: oceancitysounds.co.uk
