What’s On This Weekend
FRI 22 - SUN 24 FEB 2019
Exhibition: Criminal Ornamentation – Yinka Shonibare MBE curates the Arts Council Collection, Exeter RAMM Sat 19 Jan – Sun 17 March
Brighten up the greyest of months with an exhibition brimming with colour and pattern. Celebrated British-Nigerian artist Yinka Shonibare MBE has chosen nearly 100 works by more than 50 artists featuring eye-popping art from film to fashion and ceramics to sculpture. From a sequinned dress by Alexander McQueen to 19th century William Morris Wallpaper, his selection tells a story of objects that refuse to be confined.
Exhibition: Get Fresh, Devon Guild of Craftsmen, Bovey Tracey, Sat 19 Jan – Sun 10 March
A brand new exhibition at this lovely gallery, showcasing a range of fresh and innovative work from emerging makers across the south west. You’ll be able to view ceramics, jewellery, glass and woven textiles among the exhibits, and most importantly, you’ll be supporting these newbies as they set out to carve a name for themselves.
Horrible Histories: Awful Egyptians & Terrible Tudors, Theatre Royal, Plymouth, Tues 19 – Sat 23 Feb
Family favourite Horrible Histories is en-route to Plymouth this month just in time for half term, with shows Terrible Tudors and Awful Egyptians bringing us mummy-making, tomb excavations and an Armada sailing into the audience.
Pop-up Supper: Cook the Book @WAHQ, Wild Artichokes, Kingsbridge, Sat 23 Feb
Jane Baxter spent some of her early years in food with Rose and Ruthie at the famous River Cafe, igniting her love of Italy and Italian food. So this special evening sounds like a proper treat, as she revisits some favourite recipes in this Cook the Book evening. Come with the elasticated waistband, is my advice.
Multi-course set menu at £39pp. 7 – 10.30pm. wildartichokes.co.uk
