<p>Don&#8217;t fancy laying a towel on Budleigh&#8217;s beaches famous pebbles? No problemo, just set up in one of the pretty, pastel-coloured huts, available by the day, the week or for the weekend. Take your pick of small or large, from £45 for the day and pick up the keys from the information office on Fore Street. There&#8217;s no water or power but they come kitted with two deckchairs and you&#8217;re super-close to parking, shops and excellent ice-cream!</p>

<p>I can recommend these as they&#8217;re on my regular morning run (humblebrag). Not only are they away from the Dawlish Warren tourist trap, they&#8217;re right next to a good little café and just a short stumble down to Coryton Cove beach, a popular place for early-morning swimmers and paddle-boarders. The only downside is you have to walk along the wall with your kit or over the railway bridge to access them. Just three are available for daily or weekly hire, from £24 per day or £114 if you want it for the week.</p>

<p>Located in a family friendly spot and with a dog-free, sandy beach close by, perfect for paddling, rock-pooling and sandcastle making, the Broadsands beach huts are located on the adjacent Green. Each chalet is kitted out with power and a kitchen style unit and worktop supplied, and is yours for the week in peak season for £167.60.</p>

<p>Take your pick of seventy box-shaped huts, not the prettiest perhaps, but right on the gloriously sandy sweep of Woolacombe beach, one of Devon&#8217;s most popular and family-friendly beaches.  No power but each comes with two deckchairs, two patio chairs, a table and a windbreak. They&#8217;ve all been given women&#8217;s names, so if you&#8217;re lucky you might nab one named for someone in your tribe. From £120 per week.</p>

<p>The iconic blue chalets at the end of Meadfoot Beach, just around the corner from Torquay harbour offer two-storey options, with the upper tier having their own private balconies, and all come with power and a kitchen style unit and worktop. There&#8217;s a really good café just out of shot &#8211; a great spot for sea swimming, paddle-boarding and if you&#8217;re early, parking on the flat right opposite the gravelly beach. Costs £160.60 per week in peak season.</p>

It&#8217;s just the one bed on a mezzanine so no kids or pets allowed but who&#8217;s complaining, when your stay has this much coastal charm. Plus, your own alfresco terrace for catching up on your Booker Prize winners and watching the little ferry to-and-fro&#8217;ing from Teignmouth&#8217;s back beach.
