Tarka Pottery, Little Torrington
Craving to unleash the potter within? Check out Tarka Pottery, a rustic North Devon bolthole with a self-catering cottage and oodles of iconic places to visit nearby.
Looking for a clay date? Tarka Pottery is your place. Established in 2008, Tarka Pottery’s ultra-creative owner Jax and her team curate and host an extensive range of Pottery Experiences, catering for all aptitudes, ages and budgets. There are a dozen just for adults, from toe-dipping tasters to two-hour throw-downs on a wheel, and creative hand-building.
If the muse takes you, you can even make a stay of it in their idyllic 2-bed cottage which is surrounded by North Devon orchards and woodland walks. Ideal for a burn-out break, we say. Maybe even a career change? Fifteen of Tarka Pottery’s past pupils students have gone on to set up studios in their own right, thanks to their weekly courses for locals.
Why not round up the family and come for bonding session; book a clay-date with your OH; try an alternative meet-up with your gals (why wait for a hen party?); or how about a meditative works’ day-out? Even the mutt can get in on the act with their Personalised Paw Print Experience. Woof!
The gardens of RHS Rosemoor and glass-blowers of Dartington Crystal are nearby, as well as the iconic Tarka Trail, making for a really worthwhile day trip.
You’re sure to leave with an impressive, handmade humblebrag to put on your mantel. The proof is in the potting… would-be potters have flown all the way from Australia for a clay date at Tarka Pottery. How’s that for an endorsement?
