If this gorgeous countryside getaway doesn’t make you want to run away with a farmer, then I’ll eat my straw hat. It’s stunning, like something out of House & Garden – sympathetically refurbed and decorated, with incredible rural views, of green fields and roaming sheep. Bucolic idyll and some.

But enough of the raving, let me tell you the facts. It’s a 750 year-old, Grade II listed farmhouse at Bampton (a classy hunting-shooting type village on Exmoor). Owner Ollie Greenslade, who was brought up in a farming family across the border in Somerset bought it in run-down state and refurbed the whole place back in 2019, right down to the wiring and plumbing. And it’s very tastefully done, with just enough character to make you wished you lived there, but not so much as to make you feel unwelcome. It oozes all the good things about the living in the countryside, the outdoors, wildlife, farming and people, a gloriously rural space for groups and families to relax and explore in comfort.

Not content to have created your comfortable stay, Ollie has also curated excellent local tips for your stay.
