Want to try one of Beyoncé’s favourite treatments? The superstar singer credits her glow to a regular colonic and JLo, Cindy Crawford and Gwyneth) are all huge fans. With the opening of a brand-new Devon clinic, now’s your chance to discover its benefits for yourself without the schlep to the Big Smoke.

Located on an 18th century farmhouse in Uffculme (handily close to M5’s Junction 27), Equilibrium is a tranquil stone-built clinic with high beamed ceilings and views out onto leafy Devon lanes. Here specialises in a range of holistic therapies, ranging from colonic irrigation to reiki, reflexology, therapeutic and menopause massage.

It’s newly launched by Juliette Jones, a trained colonic therapist (ARCH The National College of Colon Hydroptherapy). Juliette has 16 years’ experience and became a devotee of colonics post a traumatic birthing experience. The lime-plastered walls of her rustic clinic are heaving with certificates, as she’s also trained in aromatherapy, Swedish, therapeutic and menopause massage. When she’s not working with her own clients, she also works as a therapist at Somerset’s Amchara retreats and is the lead therapist at Bittescombe Lodge, so you can be sure you’re in expert hands.

As her testimonials attest, Juliette’s superpower is an intuitive touch, and an ability to put people at ease. All about helping people to feel better, Juliette has helped hundred of clients. She’s solved a range of digestive problems, from chronic constipation and IBS, to embarrassing wind and bloating. She’s also helped people refresh their gut microbiome after a course of drug treatments, such as antibiotics or chemo, and people suffering with inflammation and chronic skin conditions, such as psoriasis and eczema. She also offers something called Hair Playtime – half an hour of scalp massage which sounds heavenly.

Not sure what a colonic entails? A treatment includes advice on diet and exercise, begining with a half-hour consultation to relax and hydrate you, then takes around an hour. During this time, 75 litres of water is gently flushed through the large intestine. This completely clears the gut biome which is then reset within 24 hours and repopulated to a normal level. It’s also a brilliant way to kick-start a cleanse and boost in energy  – what Juliette calls the ‘Tigger Effect’. And we all could do with a bit of that.

There’s 10% off for NHS and OAPs. Open Tuesday to Friday, every second and fourth Saturday and the fourth Sunday in the the month.
