Boringdon Hall & Spa
A world-class, award-winning spa in a historic five-star hotel and it's here in Devon. If you've not been yet, get booking.
A multi award-wining spa hotel with easy access to the A38, you say? Sounds like the perfect weekender! I thought long and hard about who wouldn’t like this historic 16th-century country house and came up empty-handed. It has history, class, plenty to do (or not do, depending on whether you prefer lazing on a lounger to bubbling in the hydrotherapy pool) and is a total foodie treat. I dare you not to be defrazzled – check out my Muddy review here.
On a site dating back to the Domesday Book, Boringdon means ‘enchanted place on the hill’ and its most recent enchantment is the new fine dining restaurant, Àclèaf, serving up head chef Scott Paton’s ingredient-led menu in a minstrel’s gallery overlooking the historic Great Hall. Alternatively, book in for their legendary afternoon tea, or come for Sunday lunch in the Mayflower Brasserie – it’s a real hit with the locals.
With 42 rooms to choose from, including large suites, dog and family-friendly rooms and rooms decorated in historic style with wooden four-poster beds, everything about Boringdon screams relaxation. Full use of Gaia Spa is included, with the option to book in for one of their natural wellness treatments, including the holistic Gaia ritual, which will ensure your mind comes away as refreshed as your face and body. Do NOT miss out!
