Aztec Spa, Torquay
We've a lotta love for this quirky Aztec-themed spa. It's just the place for a chill-day with your gals, a pre-holiday tan or a mind and body-boosting Elemis treatment.
Whether the Aztecs enjoyed a spa spruce-up, I guess we’ll never know, but I do know you’ll love Aztec Spa if you like Elemis smellies and Shellac-painted toes. Its location of Torquay’s Carlton Hotel is a reliable 3-star family hotel (with evening entertainment and great facilities for kids), but what makes Aztec Spa different is its brand-new multi-sensory Fire & Ice Experience, where you can relax in an 8-person hydropool, a herbal sauna, a Finnish sauna, an Eucalyptus-scented aroma steam room, a drench bucket and ice fountain, a fun thermal shower experience, with heated loungers and a Zen relaxation area.
There are also five treatment rooms where you can enjoy an Elemis facial, their signature treatment being a Biotech facial, perfect for gently zapping your skin back into shape after too many late nights. Or how about a Twilight Treat (Robert Pattinson not included) – four hours of spa chillin’ and a 30-minute treatment for a very reasonable £49. And while you’re waiting for your pamper, you can relax with a brew in a chill-out zone which channels a rainforest vibe, complete with 2-D jungle backdrop and Mayan panpipes to soothe your buzzing brain.
And did I mention the huuuge 25m pool (it’s shared with hotel guests, but if you pick your time right you can dodge the nippers). For gym-bunnies, there is a fitness suite with Netflix, or if you’re just looking for a spa sash where you can raise a glass of bubbles with your girlies, this is your place.
