<p>Mrs V, aka owner Sophie, specialises in vintage clothing and vinyl records but is also a dab hand with the paintbrush and sewing machine, giving preloved clothes and furniture a refurb &#8211; less shabby chic and more cool Indian turquoise brights. She&#8217;s also the inventor of the Foxy Lady Trolley, her bid to encourage us all to ditch the car and shop on foot. She takes a naff but perfectly good quality shopping trolley and magically pimps it with fur and fab materials, and <em>et voila</em>! Bye bye frumpy, hello sustainably cool. </p>

<p>Run by a mother and daughter team, Louise Designer Dress Agency is a total lady-magnet with tempting pre-loved designer gear at every turn, from a Chanel clutch to LK Bennett shoes. <p>We loved Donna Flower&#8217;s Barnstaple &#8211; and it&#8217;s a former winner of Best Women&#8217;s Store in the Muddy Awards. Now Donna&#8217;s gone online and specialises in gorgeous vintage fabrics and haberdashery &#8211; think 1930s Sanderson linen, Art Nouveau florals and ooh say, one-off samples from the Scheurer archive purchased from a Paris auction. She&#8217;s a long-time avid collector, so if you&#8217;re a quaint quilter, handy with a bobbin, or looking for a special outfit and fancy a browse around her North Devon studio, get in touch.</p>

<p>Respect due, The Real McCoy has been bringing cool to Exeter&#8217;s Fore Street since the 80s, way before vintage was on trend, and even more so now American retro is back with a vengeance, so it&#8217;s got a wide appeal for all ages. <p>This Aladdin&#8217;s cave is a dream for dressing-up &#8211; it&#8217;s stuffed to the rafters with vintage hats, shoe, handbags, coats, military, designer, American varsity etc etc. If you can&#8217;t find it here surely it doesn&#8217;t exist?! The owners are known for their brilliant styling and honest advice, and they&#8217;ll have you out of your comfort zone and into vintage Jean Muir faster than you can say &#8220;I <em>rock</em> fluid jersey!&#8221; A must-visit if you&#8217;ve got a theme night or fancy dress party coming up.</p>

<p>A small but tasteful range of pre-loved clothing, which might include fairly modern pieces but they&#8217;re tastefully curated and helpfully sorted by colour so I rarely go without trying something on. Sizes tend to be on the small to medium size, so excellent pickings for the petite. You can also pick up lovely gifts, from quality stationary and scented candles and the odd bit of homeware.</p>
