When I was in Exeter&#8217;s Skin Southwest recently, I took my chances to tap the owner Dr Pradnya for some winter skin TLC tips. Dr Pradnya is in her 50s and her skin looks amazing (tweakment-free apparently), so hey, if it works for her! 



Before she became Exeter&#8217;s hottest aesthetic practitioner, Dr Pradnya qualified as a dentist, so has that all-essential medical knowledge and 20 years-plus of hands-on experience. Her artistic skills have earned her a raft of awards and a devoted clientele. When it comes to medical aesthetic treatments, nothing gets past her, and she&#8217;s brilliant at keeping up the date with all the latest tweakments, state of the art tech and products. 



So, yes &#8211; I do want what Dr Pradnya is having, thank you- and the inside on all the best-selling treatments her customers are booking this Christmas.

For a pre-party glow-up, the&nbsp;<a rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" href="https://skinsouthwest.co.uk/treatments/face/non-injectable-treatments/facials-medi-facials/">Image Signature Facial</a>&nbsp;is the one to choose. It&#8217;s result-driven and at just 40 minutes long, you could squeeze it easily into a work lunchtime or as a break from High Street shopping. It also gives good results in just the one session, giving the skin a polished look. It combines vitamin C, hydroxy acids and an enzyme peel which speed up cellular renewal with new technology of centella stem cells for detoxifying and energising. The snow was falling on the day we chatted, and Dr Pradnya reminded me that it&#8217;s not just the sunshine that means we need to keep up with SPF in winter &#8211; it&#8217;s the reflected light from snow and ice. Skin also gets a beasting from central heating and constant changes in temperature from warm to cold, which causes that annoying flush and red hooter when you arrive at a party after being outside (just me?) and dryness.



Dr Pradnya&#8217;s daily post-cleansing routine includes <a href="https://skinsouthwest.co.uk/product/vital-c-range/vital-c-hydrating-antioxidant-a-c-e-serum/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vital C Hydrating Antioxidant ACE Serum,</a> for skin brightening and reducing fine lines and  fine lines and dryness. Her favourite Vital C cosmeceutical, <a href="https://skinsouthwest.co.uk/product/vital-c-range/vital-c-hydrating-water-burst/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vital C Hydrating Waterburst</a> that she describes as an unsung hero in a gel, full of antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, vitamins and anti-aging peptides including oily and is perfect after applying the Vital C antiaging serum too.



She always finishes off with a pump of <a href="https://skinsouthwest.co.uk/product-category/image-spf/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">IMAGE Daily Prevention Matte SPF30</a>,  and says if you&#8217;ve spent money on a facial, following this regime will ensure you keep the results going not just for Christmas parties but for New Year&#8217;s too.

Pucker up! The pouty no-needle lip&nbsp;du jour&nbsp;is called&nbsp;<a rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" href="https://skinsouthwest.co.uk/treatments/agejet/">AgeJET</a>&nbsp;and uses nitrogen plasma therapy to induce collagen and elastin. You can&nbsp;<a rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C6OdKzgMz6p/">watch a video</a>&nbsp;over on Muddy Devon Instagram of Skin Southwest&#8217;s gorgeous guinea pig, Melissa, having it done. It doesn&#8217;t hurt but the Skin Southwest&#8217;s aestheticians put a numbing cream on anyway, so all you feel is a slight ping. Your lips feel a bit dry for a week to 10 days afterwards, so time it right and you&#8217;ll have gorgeous bee-stung smackers in time for the party and then for around 6-7 months afterward. Good for smoothing lip lines too so we&#8217;re told, although for deeper smoker lines or &#8216;barcodes&#8217; as Dr&nbsp; Pradnya calls them, you&#8217;d be looking to&nbsp;<a rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" href="https://skinsouthwest.co.uk/treatments/face/injectable-treatments/dermal-fillers/">dermal fillers</a>&nbsp;(see below).



The damage: £130 per session, takes around 15 minutes.

We&#8217;ve all heard of dermal fillers and the anti-wrinkle miracle that is <a href="https://skinsouthwest.co.uk/treatments/face/injectable-treatments/anti-wrinkle-injections/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">BOTOX®</a>, but it was also interesting to hear about an under-the-radar tweakment called <a href="https://skinsouthwest.co.uk/treatments/face/injectable-treatments/profhilo/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Profhilo</a>. Dr Pradnya says it&#8217;s good for people who are nervous about fillers. That&#8217;s because it spreads out under the skin into the sandwich layer between the top layer and the lower dermis, rather than staying in one place like a dermal filler. Made from Hyaluronic Acid (HA) it&#8217;s used to plump the skin of the face, décolletage and back of hands. Dr Pradnya describes its effect as soft-focus, smoothing out lines and plumping out the skin. Plus, make-up goes on like a dream afterwards. Profhilo Structura is good for sculpting features and fixing gaunt faces and hollowed out temples. 



For best results, you need two treatments, one month apart, followed by maintenance treatments every six-eight months.



Wrinkle reducing injections are is still Dr Pradnya&#8217;s most popular injectable because they&#8217;re quick, instant and with no downtime. <a href="https://skinsouthwest.co.uk/treatments/face/injectable-treatments/anti-wrinkle-injections/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">BOTOX®</a> is fabulous for opening up the eyes, giving you an instant brow lift. It can also be used to soften crow&#8217;s feet, soften smoker&#8217;s lines (also giving you a little lip flip for a slightly fuller top lip as a perk of the job), and &#8211; a new one on me &#8211; it can also help prevent that pesky red flush and rosacea.
