<p>She&#8217;s one of Devon&#8217;s most famous exports as one of the original <em>Made in Chelsea</em> clan, but while <a href="https://www.instagram.com/cheskahull/reels/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cheska Hull </a>loves to don the heels and dress up for her 78k+ insta followers, the rest of the time she&#8217;s a hard working, down-to-earth Devon gal. </p>

<p>Claiming to be more &#8216;muddy than stilettos&#8217;, the gorgeous 39 year-old grew up as an active outdoorsy type, who loved horse riding and swimming in the balmy waters around her native home of Salcombe. She went on to work a fashion-savvy buyer in her mother&#8217;s quirky Salcombe boutique, Amelia&#8217;s Attic, before landing a role in the iconic E4 reality series which made her fame.</p>



<p>It was while working as a high-end PR in London, for clients including Raffles and The Broadway and hosting glam parties for the likes of Mariah Carey and Leo di Caprio, that she caught the attention of Channel 4’s entertainment channel.</p>

<p>Cheska notched up 85 episodes with her friends including Spencer Matthews, Ollie Locke and Alexandra ‘Binky’ Felstead from 2011- 2015, before deciding to part ways with the show, citing the pressures of London life and the inevitable toll of celebrity. </p>

<p>In 2016, she returned to Devon where she&#8217;s been a busy working mum to her 6-year old son Charlie ever since. Now, she works as a PR, influencer and consultant bigging up Devon&#8217;s brilliant food and drink brands. When we bump into her at glam do&#8217;s, she&#8217;s always lovely, and <em>always </em>at pains to put her local knowledge to good use &#8211; as her recent appointment as an ambassador to Blackpool Sands shows. </p>

<p>Working really hard and with a young son, a spa day is something I really look forward to. I went here with my mother recently and we had the best time. It&#8217;s located at Sidmouth&#8217;s Victoria Hotel and based on their sister hotel&#8217;s award-winning Source Spa at Saunton Sands. Now you don&#8217;t have to go all the way to the North Devon coast for a luxury pamper &#8211; there&#8217;s an indoor heated pool, a modern gym, a hydrotherapy spa bath, an ice bath, aromatherapy sauna, and a steam room. The massage was heaven, and you can sit on the deck in the sunshine afterwards. It&#8217;s brilliant cross-generational place for a spot of mum&#8217;s downtime. (Spa day packages cost £125). </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-salcombe">Salcombe</h2>

<p>Growing up Salcombe means I will always have soft spot for the town, and luckily all my London mates love it here too, especially a night on the tiles at the wonderful <a href="https://salcombegin.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Salcombe Gin</a> (above) sinking a few tipples right by the water. </p>

<p>You can have a proper day out here. I love crabbing off the pontoon with Charlie, just watching the comings and goings of people of their boats. <a href="http://www.boatswainsattheka.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The King&#8217;s Arms</a> do the best food &#8211; it&#8217;s pub classics, but way better than most &#8211; really good specials and the best scallops in shells. And <a href="https://cranchssweetshop.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cranch&#8217;s Sweet Shop</a>, Devon&#8217;s oldest sweet shop, known for its pink shopfront and traditional sweeties &#8211; is positively dangerous.</p>

<p>I&#8217;m an ambassador for Blackpool Sands with the marine biologist, Monty Halls. It&#8217;s a family owned Blue Flag beach, so it&#8217;s really important to them that it&#8217;s kept clean as possible. </p>

<p>There&#8217;s an amazing café there (I&#8217;m obsessed with their Voyager Coffee!), a sauna right on the beach which is really chill, and you can hire paddle boards and sea kayaks, so it&#8217;s a place that&#8217;s perfect for an adventure. The café is very ethical, with compostable cups, super-heathy Buddha bowl options and salads which is great for me as I&#8217;m on a mission with my personal trainer at the moment&#8230;</p>

<p>My new discovery on the North Devon coast. I was just blown away by its undiscovered beauty. I stayed in a new self-catering apartment, <a href="https://torspark.co/property/ocean-penthouse/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ocean Penthouse</a> at Tors Park, and it&#8217;s so cool. It really needs to be on everyone&#8217;s radar!</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s becoming a real interiors destination &#8211; a go-to for really cool homeware and at great prices. Think Nkuku but without the price tag. You can find everything from lampshades and glassware to larger statement furniture pieces. </p>

<p>Once I&#8217;ve had a good look round here, I head to <a href="https://www.thedoe.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Doe</a> (open Friday &#8211; Sunday) for drinks around the corner. It&#8217;s so cool. The interiors are simple and stylish &#8211; like being on a Greek Islands and a great place to meet for a mezze board and a carafe of wine. </p>

<p>Charlie loves it here and I do too. I met the owner Benjamin Mee, who took it on after his wife Katherine died and when he was looking for a place to bring up his kids. As an environmental journalist, it was almost like a calling. It&#8217;s now a charity-run zoo, and of course the rest is history &#8211; and a Hollywood movie! (<em>We Bought a Zoo</em>) It&#8217;s quite unlike many zoos as it&#8217;s so spacious and open, with the green backdrop of Dartmoor &#8211; and with the more acreage than Bristol Zoo had. It&#8217;s all geared towards endangered species and they run a great program of fun events, and do sleepovers. Kids can become a ranger for day, so it&#8217;s a bit like child-care but better! </p>
