The plancha and grill menu varies according to the season, but might include fire pit canapés and tasting sharing platters of smoked venison loin and pulled jerk venison with diver scallop, chilli, and grilled spring onion beet slaw with corn sourdough flat bread &amp; HG rhubarb BBQ sauce. It’s pure theatre and a brilliant insight into cooking over fire that will have you rethinking your idea of barbecue. £55pp</p>

<p>With its Med-like ocean views and beach hut stay options, the Cary Arms do al fresco dining brilliantly, and never more than when their Summer BBQs are on (first and last Friday of the month until September). Go for Spanish Tapas every Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime, Moules Wednesdays or Sunday Sea and Sound for a delicious seafood lunch and some live folk music.  </p>

<p>Fine dining chef Jamie Rogers of Kingsbridge’s TwentySeven (and <em>Come Dine with Me</em>) fame is back with his popular Salcombe seafood pop-up for six weeks over the summer. Book in for all-day dining, plus seafood barbecues and grab-and-go takeaway treats, although if you do leave you’ll miss out on the fabulous Cliff House views over Salcombe estaury. Dress code is anything from flip-flops to dress to impress &#8211; you decide.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The brookside pub’s famous BBQ is back for the high season, and with a new Asado grill making their irresistible smoky flavours even more tempting. One the quality menu is local caught seafood, their own organic Fowlescombe Farm meat, including rare and heritage breed beef, lamb and pork, plus vegetarian options. No need to book and takeaway available, Mon &#8211; Sat between 12pm-5pm, and into the evenings during high tides. They also have some dandy new awnings to make it weatherproof.</p>

<p>The brilliant Find and Foster ciders have created a family-friendly BBQ collab in the Huxham orchards with a menu of local grass fed, regeneratively farmed, organic beef and seasonal vegetables grown and raised within 3 miles of the river Exe.&nbsp; Watch your dinner be cooked over flames and served with their fine ciders, while being serenaded by a gypsy jazz band. It&#8217;s dog-friendly and, if you have young kids who won&#8217;t want to eat grown-up food, you&#8217;re allowed to pack them a picnic provided you have an adult ticket.
