Martin Bush Exhibition: Jewel Temple, Artizan Gallery, Torquay, Fri 1 – Sat 23 Sept
The Devon artist who is usually in residence at Plymouth’s Royal William Yard, will launch his latest solo exhibition of around 30 paintings this month at Muddy Awards finalist venue, the Artizan Gallery. All inspired by travels to Thailand over the past twenty years (where he goes to recharge his artistic batteries), according to Martin, most of his work is drawn from the emotions and love of colourful, gold-gilded Buddhist Temples. Expect bright, abstract and eye-catching, as ever.
Lockdown Festival, Powderham Castle, Fri 1 – Sun 3 Sept
Billed as the South West’s biggest dance music festival, Lockdown is returning to the grounds of Powderham Castle to kick off September in style. Camp, party and dance to confirmed acts including Dizzee Rascal, Basement Jaxx and Sigma, plus Fatboy Slim on the Saturday night. Sleep? Who needs sleep?!

Lobster and Crab Feast 10th Anniversary, Clovelly, Sun 3 Sept
For its tenth anniversary, the pretty North Devon town of Clovelly celebrates its famous lobsters and crabs sustainably caught by its fishermen with a family-friendly fun day. Fill your boots with the stars of the show cooked on the quay and soak up live folk music, beer tasting, cookery demo’s and plenty of entertainment for the kids. Coastal life at its best.
Sprout and Shed Pop-Up Marketplace Launch & Family Day, Darts Farm, Sun 3 Sept
Parents of littlies, show your support and get yourself along to Topsham’s Darts Farm for the launch of this fab-sounding pop-up marketplace. Pop your head inside the teepee; expect to browse a selection of gently loved, branded kids’ products that usually feature on the website, from slings to buggies and toys; plus pop-up stalls from other kids’ businesses, activities from Creation Station, Monkey Music, bouncy castle, face painting and glitter tattoos. And while you’re there, check out the play area, animal corner and maize maze.
