Fri 20 - Sun 22 Mar
For obvious reasons, you’ll notice that our what’s on guide is much shorter this week. We’re still trying to get in touch with all of these brilliant local businesses and venues to see if these events are going ahead – we’ve got no answer so are going with optimism for now. Please make sure you check check check before heading out and we will keep you updated. A list of cancelled events is included at the bottom.

THEATRE: Private Peaceful, Queen’s Theatre, Barnstaple, Fri 20 Mar
Michael Morpurgos’ touching story of wartime brought to life on stage. Suitable for age 8-plus.

Singer-songwriter Alice Jemima, fresh from her 2019 tour supporting Sophie Ellis Bextor and a new album out with Everything Changes. Catchy.
COMEDY: Ed Byrne, If I’m Honest, Queen’s Theatre, Barnstaple, Fri 20 Mar
Self-deprecating and as endearing as a labrador puppy, Ed Bryne is back on the road, trying to decide if any of his traits are worthy of passing on to the next generation.
MUSIC: Joey the Lips, Sandy Park, Exeter, Fri 20 Mar
Firm Devon favourites Joey the Lips play their slick set of funky soul blues and disco classics.
COMEDY: Shazia Mirza, The Flavel Arts Centre, Dartmouth, Sat 21 Mar
The bravest woman in comedy brings her tour, Coconut, to Devon, getting laughs from what she learnt on her time on Bear Gryll’s The Island. Check out Muddy’s interview with Shazia here (just don’t call her Shaz).
MOTHERS DAY: Mums Go Free, The Big Sheep, Bideford, Sun 22 Mar
Another option for Mothers Day, especially if you have little ones to help you celebrate, mums and grandmothers can visit for free if accompanied by a smaller (over)excited person.
MOTHERS DAY: Mothers’ Day Weekend, Pennywell Farm, Buckfastleigh, Sun 22 Mar
A free cream tea awaits any visiting mother or grandmother taking her brood to visit the new born baby animals with their own mothers this weekend, feed a lamb or giggle with the piglets.
MOTHERS DAY: Mother’s Day Lunch, Orestone Manor, Maidencombe, Sun 22 Mar
A scrumptious three course lunch at this foodie English Riviera manor, and a gift for mum. Check out Muddy’s review here.
MOTHERS DAY: Mother’s Day Lunch, Bedford Hotel, Tavistock, Sun 22 Mar
A long lazy lunch with three courses and plenty of quality time for a catch up in the heart of Tavistock, or perhaps you would prefer a mother’s day tea at their sister hotel the Two Bridges at Princetown on Dartmoor? Both divine.
