Fermenting is the buzzword when it comes to health and well-being but it’s not easy to find that delicious kimchi when you want to – and I’ve been looking high and low, I can tell you. So hallelujah for the new family-run Ground Up Cookery school on the edge of Dartmoor who are launching their new venture with an inaugural course in food and drink fermenting. Other courses coming to the new Crockernwell workshop include foraging, curing and bespoke courses to suit you.

Trevithick day is part of Cornwall’s rich heritage, celebrating Camborne town’s renowned industrial history. Join the town in their festivities admiring the magnificent steam engines, based on the life of local engineer Richard Trevithick who invented steam engines for the local and international mining industry. Expect dancing in the streets, music, stalls and a fairground to entertain you throughout the day.
