COURSE: Introduction to fermenting, Ground Up Cookery School, Crockernwell, Sat 27 April

Fermenting is the buzzword when it comes to health and well-being but it’s not easy to find that delicious kimchi when you want to – and I’ve been looking high and low, I can tell you. So hallelujah for the new family-run Ground Up Cookery school on the edge of Dartmoor who are launching their new venture with an inaugural course in food and drink fermenting. Other courses coming to the new Crockernwell workshop include foraging, curing and bespoke courses to suit you.

FAMILY: Big Fish Little Fish, Exeter Phoenix, Sun 28 April

Don a cape and your best superhero costume and dance the afternoon away with the Mudlets at this award-winning family rave – and there’s a chance to win yourself one of three family tickets to Camp Bestival in July too. Head to the multi-sensory dancefloor for glitter cannons, bubbles, balloons and giant parachute dance or craft tables and giant colouring mural, with themed crafts and playdoh table. And there’s a play tent and baby chillout space with mats and small ballpool for the tinies – sounds like heaven to me.
