Happy Hogmanay! NY Eve parties to book now
Whether you want to dance yourself dizzy, laugh hard or eat drink and be merry, there's plenty of events on this NYE in your hood.
After last years wash-out people are ready to party like its er… 2019 this year, so gather up the girls (and boys!) and pop a cork to see in the New Year (but do, ahem, check on their websites for Covid restrictions and possible cancellations). Boo.
We’re loving the sound of the quirky mix of ents at Exeter Phoenix’s The Show Must Go On, including DJ’s, walkabout performers, karaoke, drag acts and – this comes with a warning from the organiser – probably clowns. £15pp
Tonight we’re gonna party like it’s 1929…go black tie at The Great Gatsby Ball in the grandeur of Plymouth’s Boringdon Hall where you will be treated to jazz and a Champagne reception before tucking into a five-course à la carte menu, followed by music from The Gatsby Gang and finally going out with a bang with fireworks on the lawn. Sounds a blast, old sport! £140pp.
It’s a tale of two tickets at Aylesbeare’s Night Jar Inn: choose dancing and drinking with The Boogie Ticket or if you don’t want to stay up late on an empty stomach, go for The Foodie Ticket which treats you to a special four course NYE Menu and a VIP table upstairs.
Want to keep it Devon? Share champagne and pasties at midnight at The Bear & Blacksmith where chef and owner Malcolm Church source everything uber-locally so you can be sure that pasty will be homemade and fresh from the kitchen.
Want to party or dinner party? The New Year’s Eve party at The Terrace, Exeter have both covered with two ticket options: a New Years Eve thtee-course dinner in the Rooftop followed by a party over two floors, this includes exclusive use of the rooftop from 6pm-10pm. Or if all you need on New Year is cocktails and dancing, the first floor is open all night with access to the Rooftop after 10pm.
Over at Mickey’s in Exmouth, celeb chef Michael Caines MBE has devised a fabulous Gala Night Dinner, with canapés to start, and a late DJ set to take you past midnight and a six course tasting menu in between, all in the very instagrammable surrounds of this new two-storey glass-sided bar and restaurant overlooking the waves.
Yeah baby! It’s fancy dress with a swinging 60s theme (hopefully not too much swinging, eh) at Clovelly’s Red Lion Hotel with the Beatles-inspired Beatones playing live in the Harbour Bar and an option to stay overnight (£360 per room for the full package) including cocktails, canapés, music, and fireworks over the historic fishing harbour at midnight. £25pp non residents.
Want country house hotel comfort and laid back luxury. Book in for Bovey Castle’s New Year’s Eve Celebration in Smith’s Brasserie Dartmoor with fizz, a four-course dinner and live music followed by fireworks at midnight. £135pp
It’s party-central at The Treasury’s NYE Snowball in Plymouth, a historic venue where the cocktails will be flowing, the confetti falling accompanied with a band, buffet and balloons.
Happy New Year!
