For the older (10+) Mudlets, this adrenalin pumping day out will be one to remember and boast about for A LONG time! If leaping, sprinting and zipping across the tree tops (at about 14 metres!) gets them squealing,  then this is the day out for your monkey.

Bank Holiday BBQ at Riverford Field Kitchen, Buckfastleigh Mon 28 May

These events are always just the sort of relaxed family fun you want on a Bank hol; with a top notch BBQ to boot.  Burgers, sausages and seasonal veg, washed down with organic drinks, accompanied by live music and activities for the kids.  It’s alfresco dining at its best in a beautiful setting.

Holiday Club at SeaSports South West, Teignmouth, Mon 28 May – Fri 1 June

How tempting is this one, particularly in this glorious weather we’ve been having? If your kids are aged 8+, pitch up at SeaSports on Teignmouth’s gorgeous back beach, order glass of wine and some seafood and watch as your small gets stuck into some watersports fun.  Is there anything nicer than messing about on the water in the May half-term?

Half-day Children’s Cookery Courses, Exeter Cookery School, Thurs 31 May

Girl piping meringues

Owners Jim and Lucy are super-passionate about inspiring kids to learn to cook from scratch at a young age and so these courses are absolutely brilliant.  Choose from a few different courses over half-term, for varying ages and tastes, but this one is our fave.  Kids will learn to cook a basic bread dough, which can then be used to create a tasty pizza, garlic bread or dough balls.  Then it’s on to meringues for a tasty pud. I happened to be at the school when this course last ran and the smells coming out of the kitchen were enough to have me signing up the mudlet….5 years in advance!

2-4.30pm, suitable for 9-11 years, £39 pp. For all courses and info visit

Dartmoor Bears and Lions – visit to the Bones’ caves Fri 1 June
