Honky Tonk Wine Library
Muddy says: Who needs books when you can relax in a liquid library overlooking Sutton Harbour, with more than 100 curated wines for your delight and delectation. Bottoms up!
Whether you lounge on velvet seats with a glass of something cold or outdoors in the sunshine, the Honky Tonk lifestyle is all about slow. Knowledgeable ex-wine importer Fitz and friendly front-of-house Zoe want you get up only twice: to powder your nose and when you’re leaving. At this stylish deli-cafe perched on Sutton Harbour’s quayside, you’re to sit back and chill while being served from a choice of 100 curated wines, with quirky names like Quickie and Naked on Roller Skates.
It’s the kind of place you could stay all day – not to get drunk (naughty) but to savour. Share a salad from the deli counter, or a platter of charcuterie, local cheese or fish. It’s a great place to brush up your wine know-how. According to Fitz, wine is as much about how you feel as the taste, and a good one should remind you of summer days with the sun on your back. Aka heaven.
Come here for wine-tastings, comedy nights, cool jazz or if you can play, pull up a chair to the piano and tickle the old ivories. And if wine’s not your thing (whaaaat?!) they do local beer and spirits, including Fitz’s recommended Barbados rum, with coconut water ginger ale and a slice of lime with pineapple juice. As Zoe and Fitz would say, ‘Go on, you’ve earnt it’.
