Gitcombe House Country Cottages & Spa

Muddy says: Want an easy getaway for all the family, without compromising on the luxuries? We’ve found the perfect cluster of cottages for your consideration, with a brand new baby on the block – and it’s a beauty!

Park up, pop a cork and drink in your surroundings; this is about as glam as a family staycation gets! Gitcombe is a cluster of 9 luxury cottages in a peaceful and private south Devon valley, between Dartmouth and Totnes. It’s the kind of place where you can confidently come and relax in all-weather, without feeling the claustrophobic urge to leave, but with plenty around you to explore, should you want to.

There’s plenty of choice to suit your needs. Depending on how big your group is, you can take your pick, from cosier cottages sleeping 4 + infant, right through to the grand Georgian Gitcombe House, sleeping 13 + infants. The newest addition is the gorgeous Gitcombe Retreat (above), a superbly designed, fully accessible four bedroom hideaway (sleeping 8 + 2 infants), commanding gorgeous views across the valley, with its own private hot tub to boot.

There’s no danger of feeling overcrowded here, nor is there any reason to leave; but if you must drag yourself out, then you need only pad as far as the pools (both indoors and out) or play areas. This is a stay that’ll suit everyone, of all ages; whether you’re stoking the log burner or lounging in the sunshine, you’ll be so glad you discovered Gitcombe. Full review and special booking offer here for 2019 stays.

This is such a great review and I can vouch for Gitcombe being every bit as wonderful as they say.! The new house has to be seen and experienced, but the other cottages all have a charm of their own, not forgetting the grandeur of the Georgian house that sleeps 13 – ideal for a group of friends or an extended family.
