Gotta have it: The Truthbrush
Want greener teeth? Not like that, silly! With the world's first solid bamboo electric toothbrush head invented here in Devon by a brilliant all-female team.
Devon’s sustainability pioneers are a constant source of delight and amazement for us here at Muddy and here’s another genius duo, finding new ways to make our teeth greener (not literally obvs) in Ashburton.
They’re both called Catherine so easy to remember: Cat, a fashion buyer, and Catherine, an NHS doctor. This planet-friendly pair have created an eco-friendly range of dental gear, including a world first – a solid bamboo electric toothbrush head.
The big idea was inspired by a visit by Cat to a boutique hotel where everything was thoughtfully curated – except when she realised she’d forgotten her toothbrush. When she asked management for one, she was given a cheap plastic jobby designed for little more than to be thrown in the bin after a few uses.
Eco warrior-worrying over the event afterwards with Catherine, her neighbour, instead of just sighing and moving on, the ingenious pair hit upon filling a gap (ha!) in the tooth market, and their sustainable plastic-free range of brushes, cleverly called The Truthbrush was born.
Two years on and they’ve won a raft of awards, with their range stocked all over the UK, including by Abel & Cole, Japan and the States, and they give 1% from every sale to 1% of the Planet.
