Muddy’s just a little bit obsessed with Luscombe’s Damascene Rose Bubbly. For its delicate flowery-watermelon flavour, its colour – like a quality Provencal rosé wine and the fact it’s organic with alcohol-free and zero nasties. Get a bottle – no get 10 – in the fridge for when it’s scorchio. So feel-good, there’s seriously nothing like it.

Oh buoy!
No more sweating over a hot cocktail bar with this cool party-starter! This range of readymade Devon cocktails is Muddy’s new love interest, especially Seabird, a mouth-watering blend of Salcombe Start Point Gin, pink grapefruit juice, lime juice and agave syrup. Totally faff-free – just keep a few chilling, wake to shake and enjoy. (And then enjoy another one.)

My Cherry amour
Sandford Orchards, how do I love thee, let me count the empties in the recycling box! New for summer is Wilde Cherry Cider, a refreshing nod to the 16th century tradition of adding English Mazzard cherries to ye olde cider. Sandford owner Barny runs a rib-tickler of a tour around the cider press, the oldest in the UK. How anyone makes cider-making so amusing, I don’t know but he’s a brilliant ranconteur, and you get to sample five ciders and scoff pizza for only £25.

Zero hero
What to drink when you really fancy a gin but you’re being good – Sea & T from Sea Arch. In Muddy’s book, it’s Devon’s best-tasting zero alcohol gin, and the fact it’s calorie-free doesn’t hurt either. Try it straight up for a herby, blood orange blast or the Rose Sea & T for a raspberry ripple hit.

Hey, honey bun
This sparkling craft mead is an update on the mead of old, an alcoholic bevy made from just two ingredients – honey and water – fermented with yeast. Mead is a bit Marmite but we’re mad for the Classic flavour, and we promise if you’re a honey monster, you’ll love it for a hot one.
