Mid Century Design fans, whaddya think of this?
Mid-century fans, let’s take a little moment, shall we? Just look at this beaut of a collection from one of the period’s most prominent artists, David Weidman.
Isn’t it cool? The range of ceramics, textiles, tableware and stationery is all part of an exclusive collaboration with the David Weidman studio in LA and it’s landed just in time for Chrimbo! Seriously, if you’ve a mid-century art lover somewhere in your life, you’ll score mega brownie points if you gift them something from the range.
So, who are we talking about here? Well, die-hard fans will likely know of Weidman’s talents in silkscreen print. This was a man who began his career in the animation studios of the 1950s, eventually going on to open a gallery on the famed La Cienega Boulevard in LA. Over the years, he built a formidable reputation with his unique and whimsical view of the world.
Nowadays, his eye-catching vintage serigraphs and posters are highly collectable and the beady-eyed among you may have spotted the odd original in the background of scenes in Gone Girl and Mad Men, among others.
So, how to inject a bit of vintage style into your life with this lovely lot? Take your pick and be as bold or understated as you like. Everything in the range is useful, as well as beautiful, much of it focused on Weidman’s clean and striking 1963 work ‘Collection of Birds’.
Give your dainty vintage tea set a rest and upgrade your collection.
Give your tea towel art status – well if it has to hang in the kitchen, it may as well look nice.
Take a bit of Weidman around with you on your travels, with one of these super-stylish notebooks.
And, let’s face it, we can always use more storage, can’t we?
And cushions. There’s always room for another cushion in the house.
If you’re thinking Christmas presents, I wouldn’t hang around. You can check out some of the collection online or in store at Totnes’ Little Blue Budgie, or take a wander over to magpieline.com. Race you to the checkout!
