And the best place to live in Devon is…

With a whopping 17 beaches on its doorstep, a thriving high street and a vibrant community spirit, we have a worthy winner. Can you guess where?

The hanging baskets were primped, the shop windows polished and it was a tooth-and-nail contest among Devon’s finest towns and villages. But your votes in the inaugural Muddy ‘Best Places to Live’ competition have now been counted and…*drumroll*….we’re delighted to announce that the county’s worthy winner is:

Kingsbridge!

Yep, this all-year-round South Hams community has it all, with a thriving high street and the beautiful Bantham beach just a few miles away, along with miles of stunning coast path and walks nearby. With far fewer second-homers here than Salcombe and Dartmouth, it’s known for its cool year-round indie vibe, easy access to the water and amazing South Hams balmy climate.

Here, read our full Best Places to Live guide to Kingsbridge to get a 360 on what makes it so special, and check out the final voting results below.

1/Kingsbridge
2/Shaldon
3/St Leonard’s

There are many beautiful places in Devon. We moved to Hartland (close to Hartland Point) in 1985. Lovely community spirit which you won’t find in many of the places on your list.
Stunning scenery, fabulous walks including the coastal path. Excellent pubs, fantastic restaurant serving Michelin star food. Lots of local talent including potters, chocolatier, artists, novelists all featuring their wares at our fantastic local Farmers market every first Sunday.

I visited Hartland a few years back and it is stunning, love the Abbey too. Thanks for the reminder xx
