Who cares about holly-pricked fingers and squished berries in your shoe when you get your very own homemade wreath to show off every time you open the front door? Which of course you’ll be doing a lot with all those pressies the postie will be bringing you.

Learn how to make a wreath from scratch, right down to the moss ring, in this two-hour session with the professionals in their well kitted-out Dunchideok studio, near Exeter. Morning or afternoon still available, including all materials, tea and coffee.
Christmas Wreath Masterclass, Darts Farm, Topsham, Sat 7 Dec
Led by RHS judge Sarah Hills-Ingyon, this two and half hour morning class allows you to choose the size of your wreath and it promises to be eco-friendly. And there’s the added incentive of Darts Farm shopping so you can pick up your gin, fizz, Xmas cake and pudding, turkey, trimmings, and more gin and fizz (obvs).

Riverford’s legendary workshops are already sold out *sob* but there’s still time to bag yourself a place on their garland course, where you’ll be using greenery, berries and flowers grown or foraged on the farm to make something lovely to twine around the mantelpiece or banister.

Using the foliage gathered from the Heddon Valley including willow, holly and ivy, you’ll learn how to make a long lasting wreath then tuck into a scrummy 2-course lunch. Finish off with a hot mulled beverage and mince pie before you totter home with your masterpiece.
