Easy to wear, available in a gazillion gorgeous colours and they're available at Exeter's Lorna Ruby - winning!
Summer has arrived and it’s time to commit to ditching the socks and tights for a bit. But before you jump in to full-on flip-flop mode, we’ve found the perfect footwear to see you through the transition and, once you set foot in these beauties you’ll be wearing them all summer long.
I’m absolutely loving these sandals by Menorcan label Palmaira for three simple reasons: they’re super-comfy, they come in too many gorgeous colours to choose from and they’re priced reasonably enough to justify more than one pair if you’re feeling a bit indecisive. If that doesn’t make for a summer essential, then I don’t know what does.
Palmaira is the Spanish brand formed by two London-born sisters, who grew up in a small village on Menorca and spent their formative years living in the traditional farmer’s avarca sandal. All of their sandals are still made there, by local villagers who are childhood friends and neighbours, using the same traditional methods. The brand has been on the scene for a few years now, but in that time has built up a serious following thanks to the fact that the sandals can literally be worn anywhere, anytime.
The comfort bit is down to the super-soft leathers. These babies can be found made from napas, nubucks and suedes that treat the tootsies, as well as making them look fab. The range of colours, textures and patterns is immense, from metallics and muted nudes, to bright pops of neon, glitter and fun leopard print. The ones that caught my eye over at Lorna Ruby in Exeter are the navy with orange neon backstrap; perfect for the day without feeling too boring, plus my heel is probably the only part of the body that’ll tolerate bright orange.
I’ll leave you with one final big plus on these sandals as holiday season looms: they’re super-easy to sling in the suitcase. I mean, what’s not to love?
