Gotta Have It
Praise be for Z For Accessorize - gorgeous, grown-up goodies, all under 20 quid. Adorn yourself pronto!
Ever noticed how hard it is to find decent jewellery on the high street? I’m thinking your everyday, affordable earrings, necklaces and bracelets rather than anything posh and diamond-based. I’m talking about replacement gold studs for when mine infuriatingly fall down the shower plughole, a stack of inexpensive bracelets to layer up my wrist on holiday, or frivolous cocktail ring bought on a whim before a night out. Basically it’s tricky to find baubles at a decent price point designed with anyone over the age of 14 in mind.
However, there is one notable exception – Z For Accessorize, the fashion editor’s under-the-radar high street favourite. The delicate gold-plated and rose-gold range is designed by owner Peter Simon’s daughter Zara, which could be a recipe for nepotistic disaster but is actually really, really good.
Case in point – these cute, colourful friendship bracelets for AW17 (here’s hoping for an Indian summer). Buy in every colour and stack ’em high, I say. What else? The great value £17 multi-packs of mix’n’match dainty gold and crystal studs are perfect if you’ve got multiple piercings (I get through a pack every couple of months such is my skill at losing them) – although the heftier new season danglers have caught my magpie eye too. And there’s all manner of stacking rings and itsy-bitsy delicate necklaces, all of which layer prettily and none of which cost more than twenty quid a pop.
They don’t come ribbon-wrapped in an expensive box but at these prices who cares, quite frankly.
