With supermarket delivery slots in high demand, I’ve tracked down my Delicious Dozen of food to your door, most with Devon-wide delivery areas, along with a smattering of treats, wine and other *essentials* of the alcoholic kind.
If you’re in the vulnerable group, or are caring for someone who is, you can nab priority supermarket slots by registering online on gov.uk. You’ll be asked for your (or their) NHS number but you can still register if you don’t have it. (It’s on any letter the NHS has sent you or on a prescription.)

Award-winning veg box scheme based in Clyst St Mary, incredibly run by just two people – Julie and Bela – who know a lot about early rises and curating produce from top-notch local farms, including Wellspring Organic, Shilingford Organics and Otter Vale. They’ve just created a Pensioner’s Box designed to last for 3 weeks (£75), plus their usual fruit, veg, pies, vegan range and more. They have a wide delivery area from Umberleigh down to Liskeard in Cornwall.
Family run since 1957, Dart Fresh deliver fresh fruit and veg, store cupboard staples, dairy and soya milk, eggs, pasta and bread. Ideally you should order online or if you must, call 01392 873 036 between 8-3 for next day delivery. Delivering from the Devon/Cornwall border, up to Bristol and down to Weymouth and everywhere in between.
A new initiative from the South West fresh produce wholesaler, West Country, they’re now offering a next-day home delivery from Monday to Saturday in Devon and Cornwall either online or by calling 01326 331 900. And yep, there’s fizz, red, white and rose on the list, along with beer from St Austell Brewery.
Delivering to EX1 to EX15, EX24 postcodes, Greendale usually offer next day but unprecedented demand means you’ll have to wait a week for your order (free over £75) though they can still do next-day delivery nationally. A humongous range of meat, fresh fruit and veg, dairy, booze, pantry and some gluten-free, and useful as many supermarkets have closed their wet fish counters, fish landed fresh at Brixham and Newlyn.
Can’t live without your cheese fix? Sharpham have just announced a collaboration with artisan cheese makers, Quickes and Ben Ticklemore, to deliver a curated cheeseboard to your door. Five pieces for £20 (and you may want to pick up a bottle or two of their very quaffable wines, including their Sharpham Reserve while you’re there).

Got a hot house on your hands? Cool things down with a crowd-pleaser for all ages, Dartmoor Ice Cream, who make a range of tempting flavours, including ginger, honeycomb, salted caramel and all the usual suspects of choc, vanilla and raspberry ripple. Made on the moors by two Devon maids and wrapped in 100% guilt-free recyclable packaging.
Fitz and Zoe of Plymouth’s Honky Tonk Wine Library are delivering their expertly curated range of world wines, spirits and beer to PL1 and PL6 postcodes every Friday and Saturday, or if you prefer English wines (or just can’t wait that long) try Lyme Bay Winery, and their Devon-made English wines, beer, cider and mead with free delivery on orders over £20.
Ottery’s Christopher Piper are offering free delivery on a curated case of six bottles (£60) and have a great range of wines, including New Zealand Marlborough, Picpoul, Pinot and more. And they’re offering free delivery to Ottery St. Mary and satellite hamlets, for anyone self-isolating or simply unable to leave their house.
