Muddy says: O.M.G. Where’s this little beaut of a bolthole been all my life? We’re completely bowled over by this boutique B&B near the south Devon coast, brought to you by the people behind two of the area’s most stylish and talked-about foodie destinations. It was always going to be a winner, wasn’t it?
Let’s start with what’s wrong with Whitehouse. Aaaaaaand we’re done. Ok, let’s move on to what’s right with this boutique B&B in the south Devon village of Chillington, because we’ve a lot to get through.
Firstly, it’s a real stunner of a Georgian house, with pretty gardens and the most twinkly allure at night. And inside, you’d think you were arriving to stay with your most stylish and fun friend, if it wasn’t for the service and the luxury guest touches that mark it out as an incredible B&B.
There’s definitely something about Whitehouse. Is it the cosy and super-informal layout downstairs, where you’re free to take up residence at the bar, or in the firelit snug and wile away hours on end with a large glass of something nice and a Whitehouse Platter of treats? Is it the blend of period charm, mixed with statement design pieces and pops of colourful art? Maybe.
But then, move upstairs and you’ll discover 6 luxury bedrooms, each with individual style, enticing in their own right. What bonds them all is the attention to detail, the sheer indulgence and the fact that you won’t want to depart anytime soon.
And you’ll love the restaurant in the Georgian conservatory for breakfast (with the occasional cheeky pop-up dining event – we’ll keep you in the know on that one). If you’re a fan of nearby foodie hotspots, Beachhouse and Schoolhouse, then you’ll pick up on a similar vibe here.
Just go – even if you only live a few miles up the road. You won’t be disappointed.
