Turtley Corn Mill
Muddy says: As destination pubs go, this one, in the heart of the South Hams is one of Devon’s prettiest places to hang out. Gorgeous gardens where peacocks wander and cosy corners for delicious dinners, plus six stylish bedrooms for when you want to make a night of it. The Turtley Corn Mill can do no wrong.
Everyone needs a failsafe pub option up their sleeve and the Turtley Corn Mill, at Avonwick in the South Hams is mine, hands down. This family-run pub in a garden, complete with lake and ducks is brilliantly located for everyone to reach, easy on the eye and with a super-relaxed vibe, it consistently delivers.
And that’s before we’ve even gone near the food and drink which, since we’re on the subject, is spot-on, too. With the emphasis on locally sourced ingredients, the menus change according to what’s available, in season and tasty. You can be as healthy, or as indulgent as you like with your choices and the wine list and ales selection doesn’t let the side down, either.
Whether you’re looking for somewhere to meet for a family get-together, where small people can wander among the chickens, a reunion with mates or a romantic dinner for two, the Turtley works; and now you can make the most of it, with a stay in one of the six gorgeous ensuite rooms. I’d book in for the breakfast alone. Read the full review here.
