Muddy says: A lifestyle store that’s been thriving on Exeter’s Queen Street since 1995? What’s not to love about this total treasure trove, packed with quirky pieces for you, them and the home. I’m going in!
It’s the name – Toot Garook – I can’t stop saying it in as many silly accents as I can manage (I bet you’re doing it too, now!). I have to admit, the Instagram page of this lifestyle store first caught my eye with its vibrant and intriguing array of quirky pieces regularly being paraded before my eyes; it turns out you never know what you’re going to find next in this fun store in the heart of Exeter.
Doing the lifestyle genre justice since way before ‘lifestyle stores’ became a big thing, it’s a super-friendly store across two floors, that’s jam-packed with colourful, quirky pieces. Lamps, sheepskin rugs, eco-friendly cups, gorgeous ceramics, anything is game here. Err, black swan planter, anyone? (see Instagram for deets).
You’ll find this alluring shop in good company on Queen Street, where Exeter’s shopping scene takes a turn for the more cool and independent, away from the high street chains. Word of warning though, prepare to lose at least an hour – a blissful hour, mind – browsing here. And don’t blame me if you come home with more than you bargained for! I’m just the messenger.
