Muddy says: Looking for a super-pretty playground where you can kick back on your family hols? Thurlestone Hotel has that kind of timeless charm and appeal that’ll have you yearning for a stay here, year after year (not least because of *that* spa).
Ok, let’s talk firstly about the location of this longstanding family run hotel. Right on the panoramic South Devon coast, near to Kingsbridge and Salcombe, I’d feel pretty smug if you managed to snaffle a sea-view room. And, frankly, I’d struggle to think of a better base for exploring all of those chocolate box villages and seaside towns that keep the postcard printers in business.
Shall we sidle on down to the Voyage Spa, next? All the usual pampering suspects are in residence (we rated it one of the best in Devon), plus an outdoor pool, fitness studio and a treatment list as long as your arm. It’s luxury with a hit of nostalgia, something you’ll feel all around this beaut of a hotel.
Did someone say food? Well, this one’s quite straightforward, really. Award-winning and with options from bistro fare to fine dining across three different restaurants and a bar, you could fill happily fill your boots and not have to leave for days.
So who’s the Thurlestone Hotel best suited to? Well, everyone really (and that includes dogs), making it a cracking option for a multi-generational family holiday. Whether there’s a keen golfer in the clan, kids desperate to burn off energy in the playroom, or at Big T’s Surf Club, or someone who just wants to go from cocktail to cream tea, with a sun lounger in-between, the Thurlestone Hotel is geared up to cover all bases. Consider yourself up to speed on all that makes this one a Muddy fave.
