Friends, Romans, Devonians, lend me your ears – I have exciting news for culture vultures! Shakespeare’s Globe is coming to Devon this summer as part of ten not-to-be-missed days of visual arts and theatre at Totnes Festival from Mon 15 – Weds 24 August.
One of the many highlights across the festival is a fabulous performance of Shakespeare’s tragedy, Julius Caesar, on Tuesday 23 August as part of their nationwide Globe on Tour series.
No need to schlep all the way to Stratford, instead you can catch this epic play at Dartington Hall’s stunning private gardens. It’s already had rave reviews from the likes of Time Out and The Stage – definitely one to add your summer hitlist.
Here’s the synopsis from The Globe…”Conspiracy to kill, public broadcast of cunning rhetoric, a divisive fight for greatness. Ancient Rome has never felt closer to home. When Cassius and Brutus decide Rome’s leader, Julius Caesar, poses a political threat to their beloved country, there’s only one solution…Shakespeare’s Globe and award-winning Director Diane Page bring this brutal tale of ambition, incursion, and revolution to life.” Sounds amazing, doesn’t it?!
